I'm not saying he will be on the hot seat THIS year. I'm saying that Heup might look at the next 2 seasons and decide he can't get us to a level where he's got the buy-in he had in 2022 and decides to start over somewhere else with a fresh slate before the hot seat talk starts in earnest. Because if a coach is unsure and the program declines under them, not only do they risk getting fired, but they also torch their bridge to other resource-rich P4 jobs.Never said that but I don’t think we are near that point. JH played this year with an arm tied behind his back and I think DW gets that.
He did and he had a very good game. That doesn't really have anything to do with sending our kicker packing with no viable replacement. There are very few kickers in college with a better percentage than Gilbert. Before you fire someone you need to be positive you can upgrade.Well, OU’s kicker sure made those 50 yarders look easy. 3 from 50+ won the game
That’s fair. Gilbert was automatic last year but has not been great this season. You’ve gotta have those guys who don’t flinch when the big moments arise. He did and he had a very good game. I hope over but my prediction would be under. I just think our fan base is not reasonable and can be way too toxic. It's not just our fanbase but everywhere. Just look at the coaches fired this year and our schedule is only getting harder in future years.Over/Under
Heupel will be here 3 more seasons?
It's just a tough gig and fans are so used to watching NFL kickers that the expectations for college kickers is unreasonable now. Everyone wants a perfect kicker but they are very rare in college. That’s fair. Gilbert was automatic last year but has not been great this season.
