That’s why you choose a strategic position to start a freshman or young QB.

And gee golly, look at our next 3 weeks: Bye Week, New Mexico State, at Florida. We all know Heupel can develop and gameplan around QB’s. I trust him to spend 3 weeks of practice and a powderpuff NM State to put Merk or Gmac in a position to be successful.

Apparently you don’t think Heupel can do that.

Winning out plus the bowl game means 10-3. It’s hard yo imagine any Tennessee fan being angry about that record but there will be plenty which blows my mind.

Most likely the starting QB for the Vols next season will be another transfer. None of the QBs currently rostered will start at UT and the incoming QB likely won't be ready.

10-3 will mean nothing if our QB position next year results in a true or redshirt freshman starting with virtually no experience.

I’m split on it. On one hand Joey has kept us in games. On the other hand, the season is a bust.

They should leave Joey in for one quarter next game and let whoever play the rest.

See, this is where I have the problem with our coach.
Why are two of his picked players not ready? That is 100% on him.

Weren’t they both pretty heavily recruited by other programs?

I mean they are young so it makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is why there is over $2m invested in NIL between the 2nd and 3rd stringer.

Sure. I'm the one who needs meds and you wanna bench a QB who is 2nd or 3rd in the league in passing. He threw for almost 400 against OU.
I'm sure the seniors.whonwont be back are good trying out a new QB. They don't care if we beat Florida or Vandy.

They are young, but his players he picked aren’t good enough to start after being here a year?

Other teams have enough guts (for good or for bad) to start freshman or year 2 QBs.

Yes. Now that the season is LOST, I want Heupel to focus on the long term health of the program and not make the same mistake he made in 2023 with the QB situation.

So mind numbing!

Agreed! I'd be shocked if we don't get a 1 year rental next season before turnjng it over to GMac or Faizon. Hell, it would be nice to have a 2 or 3 year starting QB.

Also if you think Heupel will lose the locker room (thats 2/3’s underclassmen) over a QB switch that benefits the future, he has bigger issues with the culture.

See that’s what I think lacks. We need a two or three year QB. Someone that can actually master the system not just learn it.

It’s also a bad look to get picked and think you could start the following year, only to get someone from the portal start over you.

Absolutely! Look at our most prolific QB under Heupel. Hooker was in year 2 and he thrived. That didn't help Milton, but I think a lot of that was Milton. I really hate having a different QB year to year.
