Just Settle Down, Please.

I dont agree with the op. 5 years and you see the same mistakes over and over. Its time that Tennessee figures out that its in it to win or not. Eiher keep him and force a staff overhaul or clean them all out. Its time for White to decide. Other schools have.

Just stop. Indiana hired Curt Cignetti and he is amazing. If DW is so wonderful he should be able to find someone great.
I’m not trying to be a smart aleck. Everyone wants to complain but no one wants to offer a solution. If you want CJH fired, tell us who you want to hire. Provide a solution to your complaints.

O-line gets whipped. Try passing with people in your face. It was a jail break most of the time. Letting a Sooner go around you and don't even try to block him until he is three yards past you is uncomprehensible to me. This was a big part of the final score because of the hit causing the fumble and touchdown for OU. Of course, the run to the end zone was aided by a tight end that looked like a junior high player that has never tackled anybody but we keep trotting him out there. Had a pass to him that he juggled until he took a hit and, of course, he drops it. The kicker. Why trot him out there when you know he is as unreliable as they come when you need the field goal? Just trot him out there hoping for a different result. You can't tell me no one else on the team will do worse. Has anyone seen a coach chew these clowns out for these mistakes?? Never seen it from the television side. Ever seen Nick Saban when one of his players screwed up with a basic, fundamental play?? Uh huh. He was in their face and a lot of times it was the next man in while the slacker got to sit a while. We don't have that.....just don't have the desire to let someone that may be hungrier give it a try. What a comedy of knuckleheads we have on the sidelines and on the field.
Have to credit Venables for the defensive scheme. He kept Joey off balance and under pressure all night and we never adjusted. That’s on the coaching staff.

Let's be honest. They stayed in the game because their kicker would be hitting field goals from Oak Ridge through the upright and our kicker cannot from score with Jesus helping him. Max needs to be in a sensory deprivation tent until it's his time to kick. I mean we were at home ans were against Georgia. He's awful when it matters.

That Miss totally took the momentum. After the Uga miss, Max would be on my bench. This is serious business, not pattycakes.

I'm going to reserve judgement until after the Vandy game. If we end up at 7 - 5 with this season's mediocre-strength schedule, then some changes in coaching/staff should strongly be considered. We've consistently played weakly following bye weeks, which is a sign of poor coaching/preparation. This season we were gifted with a QB1 that could effectively run a tempo offense. That tempo offense was soundly beating Georgia, and for some unexplainable reason, we turned it off? If we end up at 7 and 5, I would have to come to the conclusion that the talent on our team is not being served by the current coaching. Now that the CFP is out of the picture, perhaps we should see more of MacIntyre and Merklinger. Aguilar has been MORE than we ever could have asked for and I truly enjoyed watching him play this season. But playoff-wise, this season is over and we should begin giving valuable reps to the Vols of the future.

We tried every way to beat ourselves and succeeded last night in just doing that. The stadium was electric, and the fans were wild and into the game, but we managed to play "ugly" again in a relevant game against a ranked opponent. It's a problem no matter how we try a diffuse it.

There was a part of me that expected this. I think Heupel has a ceiling as a head coach and we saw how that rears its head last night.

The sun still came up today, but the bottom line is if Tenn wants to become an elite program again it can’t lose to teams at home who are not top 5. And while Oklahoma is historically also a good program they are not a top 5 team. I think we see why ADs want to continue to throw millions at Lane Kiffin even though he hasn’t won a championship. He beats this team on the road and we can’t beat them at home.

To the OP I hear you and understand the point, and the sky isn’t falling but I’m also disappointed because that game last night a) rendered the rest of this season pointless (with the way the CFB world is now set up) and b) it’s an unfortunate indicator (maybe an indictment) that Tennessee is not on a path to becoming a top 10 program again under Heupel.

Settle down, folks. We lost tonight. But I said to people that if there would be a team along with Georgia and Alabama that gave us fits this season, it'd be Oklahoma. The Sooners are not a bad team. They're a good team and a reason they are 6-2. It is so asinine that I am seeing comments of some of the fans on here saying we're going to be 7-5 or we need to get rid of Josh Heupel.

Yeah, Heupel got outcoached tonight, Joey picked tonight to have his worst game of the season, and Max Gilbert still can't make a Field Goal in a clutch situation. But before the season, the experts thought we'd be 6-6 or 7-5. Hell, there were some that thought we'd probably go 5-7. We lost many players in the offseason, we didn't know what we'd get out of Joey Aguilar before the season, and several players on defense have been out since before the season. I am just saying it could be worse.

We are great at offense. Most of our offense did a great job, but Aguilar got too greedy and aggressive on some key throws and that hurt us. Especially how great their defense is. Defensively, we should be better next year with some guys coming back and if we recruit more blue chippers and get quality players from the portal.

But we also NEED to fire Tim Banks and Willie Martinez. Even with the players we have out, we should be better than what we are defensively. And our secondary is still mediocre at best thanks to Martinez. And we need to get a better kicker in the offseason and send Gilbert on his way.

Agree, also maybe look at Special Teams--Kickers coach and S&C due to injuries.

I think Heupel has to change what he is doing, if not, it will start a downhill trajectory. What he is doing now is not working well. The opposing coaches are figuring out how to beat his system. 2024 saw him change a little so I think there is hope there.

Our special teams was so much better under Mike Ekeler. Josh hired another internal quality control or analyst and our special teams has regressed even with the former NFL coach of special teams. Besides Gilbert getting worse, Boo has done nothing as a PR and KR Lewis really hasn't done nothing either and our coverage isn't as good either on punts. We never try to block punts either.

This is a problem, a chaotic situation. When you witness so much breaking down, especially with people in positions of power and millions of dollars, there must be responses. The promise was championships, not regression. Disorder is merely a symptom. This isn’t just one game; there are underlying issues. You can defend it all you want, but if a person can’t make changes, they will eventually be replaced. Evolution or get left behind...it’s inevitable.

I agree with you on one point. Fire Banks and Martinez. I have always been able to tell when Martinez is coaching our DR'S. He has always sacked and always will. Whenever he has looked good it was strictly because the kids were just that good and he wasn't able to ruin the.. lol

Boo hasn't played or tackled like anyone who should be paid. Way overrated so far and over paid.

I compare this to Fulmer somewhat if he Heup doesnt make any changes this coming year to Fulmer’s refusal to change offense or his stubbornness to change.. you older guys know what I’m talking about..

Just like a woman to use only the propped up stats that benefit her argument. Just watch the games. My wife has listened to me talk about the lack of Discipline with Heupel and not back bone at all to get into a player, a ref or anyone. He has zero personality. Yeah we should red some points, yay. We give up allot too. We make more mistakes than you can keep up with. Its the style of football. Players take on their coaches personality. His is sloppy, way to laid back and no consequences for mistakes and blunders. He just makes a face and acts like thats OK, it will be alright young man. We need a coach that just might light into one of these kids. To much money involved now, it's a business. Shut up about your feelings. I was afraid money thing would change the college game. It has and not for the good of fans in my opinion. They require way more of my money to be one. I won't be spending a dime on vols gear or tickets so they can pay an unproven kid a million to come play thats never had a real job.

My god what horse💩. Stop trying to justify coaching malpractice on preseason expectations. We have won some games in spite of this abysmal coaching and preparation and could’ve won the 3 games we lost. Stop making excuses for being unprepared. For making the same mistakes every game. The head scratching play calling. The incompetent clock management.

We have at this point regressed from last year. Regression is never good regardless of justifications. Especially in the SEC. We really need a bounce back year next year or it’s probably time to move on.
****. Have you seen next years schedule? We may not get bowl eligble. DW better have his rolodex out before the program tanks and is ONCE AGAIN an unattractive destination. Dont be surprised if the recruting class doesnt fall apart when we end up 7-5.
