Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Heupel is a good coach. We’ll win 8 to 10 games in a regular season at most. He’ll never get us to an SEC title or National Championship though. Tonight is a prime example of that underachieving. Totally squandered opportunity.
Meh predicted middle of the pack of the SEC even before injuries....so about right so far

We’ve gone 11-2, 9-4, 10-3, and maybe 10-3 or 9-4 this year. That means we’re right there and not a flash in the pan. A program that wins games that’s on the verge of breaking through. And we’ve won some big ones during that time. Just none this year so far lol.

Recruits aren’t as emotional as fans. Especially now with money involved.
I don't think 9-4 is the worst we can do. I could see us losing 2 more, at most

Vols made a lot of mistakes tonight. Fumble for the TD, interceptions, late hits, missed FG

The one thay really infuriates me is letting the QB scramble for 16 yards on a 3rd and 15. How does that happen? Out of position or are we just slow? Both?
While completely agreeing with you...that play is the one I keep going back to, as well; if im not mistaken though, wasnt it a 3rd and 18, and he got 22?

Whichever...yeah, the scoop and score was this game's pick-6; but, that 3rd down almost got the neighbor's house burnt down.

There is more parity in baseball than NBA or the NFL. There has been 8 different MLB teams win championships since 2015 while just 6 different franchises have won in the NBA and NFL. You missed a phenomenal World Series that the Blue Jays should have won if they could just get Miguel Rojas out.
That doesn't change the fact the Dodgers bought the series the last two seasons and we all knew it was coming

Our LB’s getting coached to not fill running lanes would check out with the way they’ve played this season

Inge is a great recruiter and next year I need to see his unit play up to that standard. I am holding out hope only because he’s still not got his guys out on the field but yeeesh it’s been tough to see LB’s simply shooting the wrong gap

We were in it. It just was so wrong. On their first touchdown, it appeared that he went out of bounds. The entire stadium was booing and asking for a review. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Heupel let the extra point go off. That pissed off the entire stadium.

then they played the spooky rocky top song. No one was interested. Everyone was pissed.

It went way down after that.

It was a stadium of fans wanting to be hyped, with no reason to get hyped.
Ok yeah they could be better timed with their theatrics but we shouldn’t need those to be hype. This has happened ALL season.

We don’t yell until it’s 3rd down. I feel like a damn fool screaming my lungs out waving my arms around trying to pull those around me into it. Nothing. Maybe we have 1 fan for every 50 into it if it’s not 3rd down with less than 10 seconds on the playclock.

Maybe it’s the 3rd and banks we know its coming. Maybe we’ve got too many people on their phones. I don’t know, but I haven’t seen the “neyland effect” since UF and bama last year.

Lol not every route is gonna be open. Don’t throw floaters deep over the middle when the safety is waiting maybe?

Putting those 2 INTS on the play call is hilarious. Plenty of other play calls to question. But Joey got pressured and tried to force a couple. It’s ok to say that. He’s a gunslinger.
It was more than a couple and if you’re going to force it at least make sure the wr has a chance at it. There were at least 4 that were nearly directly to a safety.

It’s crazy to watch week and and week out. I’m hoping it’s just a skill issue and Perlotte and the rest of the young guys will be good, you can definitely see the potential for Perlotte

Like this is inexcusable and it happens on a weekly basis

If you wanna know what a sore loser looks like😭🤣🤣 @pismonque @knoxvol52 @volbeast33 a sweep?!?…absolutely not

Someone said tonight that Brazzell, Staley, and Matthews were the best WR trio we've ever had, I can't recall who.

No way.

Kent, Nash, Peerless in '96.

and

Nash, Peerless, Copeland in '97.

Don't care what the numbers say.

I will admit, Peyton Manning made every single WR he ever played with look great; but, those guys WERE great, the greatest.

And, I dont remember them dropping NOWHERE NEAR the amount of passes Staley and Matthews do.

I love these guys this year, they are electric, with a firefighter throwing them the ball...not trying to take anything away from them, at all, especially Brazzell.

Boy, what a night. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.

Their offense woke up right after that play too

It's a rough night, cold rain here in southern middle Tennessee. That's a game we should have won but we gave it away early by not capitalizing and kept them in the game.

We had the opportunity to go up big early and whiffed

Not as good as Jennings, Callaway and Palmer.
