I thought the 500 transfers between Pruitt and Heuple would have had a lasting change on our culture, but it hasn't gone that way.

We are undisciplined and not resilient. There's no clutch gene on the team or coaching staff. Heuple coaches scared and his crybaby victim mentality on the sidelines spills over into the players' attitudes. He whines too much and it affects the play on the field. Freeze does the same thing at auburn (but worse than Heuple).

We're mostly made up of guys that are looking for NIL paychecks. Instead of building a complete roster of football players, we throw money at 17 year old 5 stars and then act shocked when they don't turn into gritty VFLs. They instead don't put in the work to improve and threaten to leave if we don't pay more. And really the blame is on us for that. We already showed them that we want to throw millions at them to come to UT when they have never accomplished anything other than being bigger and faster than weak high school competition. Of course they feel entitled to more . I'm expecting a lot of players to mentally check out following this loss.

Where's the resiliency and composure on this coaching staff or on the field? We have poor leadership at the top. We need staff changes, but the biggest change needs to happen with Heuple's leadership style. He has to man up a little. He needs to reevaluate the star gazing he does in recruiting. He needs to tie NIL to performance at UT. He needs to develop his personal resilience when the refs make terrible calls.

The culture needs to change in Knoxville.

Good point. But with the NIL money grab going on now I don’t know if culture matters anymore. Indiana has blossomed because Mark Cuban is throwing millions at the athletic department. And their coach is good.

Yep. It’s like the NFL on steroids with transfers and it’s ruined college football. You could have a loaded team one year, piss a few of the players and their fat little girlfriends off, and be down the next year. Not many teams are harboring tons of talent like pre NIL. It’s why there’s so much parity in college football.

i’d rather have parity than watch Alabama win every year

Spot on observation. We’ve seen moments of heart. Beginning of the 3q tonight and first of 3rd vs Alabama. Even 1Q vs UGA. But need that mad dog mentality a lot more often. Go hard all the time. He shown hints of great leadership with Salter,Nico and Boo dramas but man something’s missing in moving to that next level of boss coaching. Staff changes and general demeanor could definitely help.

Heupel needs to make improvements in his health and fitness.

Can't be a leader of world class athletes and S&C program without have discipline in your own life. He just looks sloppy and guess what, so does the team.

In the 80s every team wore the TEAM/me shirts under their pads. I believe Georgia started it. It emphasized the Team is larger and more important than me. Those days are long gone my friends. Why should you coach your heart out when it’s more valuable to be on the hot seat with a $50 million dollar buyout than yo win a Championship.

Until players have to sign and honor contracts like the NFL, there will be little commitment to o excellence. It’s time to become a trend fan and follow whose hit this season. To heck with loyalty. All loyalty gets a fan is a team that loses a lot.

Maybe they can hire Butch Jones or Derek Dooley again.

Jim Harbaugh and Urban Meyer both won championships and both have had major health issues related to their hearts. But hey lets judge the book by that cover.

Culture didn’t miss a field goal or throw two picks, this isn’t a playoff team no matter how much you wish that it were

Kirby Smart coaches like he expects to get every call and expects to make the clutch plays needed to win. And his players are put in position to make those plays every week.

I used to think it was all talent with him, but his in game coaching the last 2 years (except for this years Bama game) has been incredible. There is no comparison to Heupel.

You successfully make some of the dumbest opinions possible. The weight or lack there of has no impact on the game. You clearly never played a sport at a high level if you think it does. Coaches coach and players play, we lack talent at several key positions not a good diet plan for Heupel

Sure, Jan.

I’m so surprised that a complacent coach field a sloppy team that has a reoccurring issue with discipline on and off the field week after week.

I’m sure the Heupel is 10000% motivated day to day making the program the best he can…

It’s year 5. There is zero excuse for lack of depth and talent gaps. We had injuries at key spots but everyone has them. Heupel chose to load up this roster with 50% being freshmen/sophomores while letting players walk who shouldn’t have…

Lack of depth is a product of NIL, teams can’t afford to stack talent three deep. You seem to be under the illusion that Tennessee has endless money and can afford to hold onto all of their assets. They can’t and very few if any can. Your complaints are non sensical. Heupel has flaws like any head coach but not being able to afford every player they need or want isn’t a flaw. It’s the new reality of NIL

We could have afforded to keep Jakobe, we balked, he walked.

We could have kept Harrison.

Like they weren’t breaking the bank.

My one fear is I hope we don’t let Redmond walk. We need to lock him up. So much promise in that guy
