I HATE our hurry up run up the gut for no gain. Offense has become lame. Joey doesn’t sell the play fake either on the next predictable 2nd down play.I have a couple thoughts and then I’m going to bed:
- I am tired of getting a first down, rushing back to the line just to hand it off straight into the teeth of the defense.
- I'm a Joey fan but not sure he is a big game QB. He looked flat footed in the pocket a lot tonight. His check down was working but abandoned it for some questionable throws.( during the game not at the end when they were giving us the check down)
- Kitzelman drops way too many passes. I saw where he has a 17% drop rate. That’s insane for the amount of targets he gets. He has tipped 3 passes into INT’s as well this year.
- I know Mateer is good but I’m tired of QB’s having their best games against us. That sucks
- I love our team but we are not timely. We lack the ability to get it when we need it. Missed FG’s
passes of our face mask and playing with urgency. Time is your enemy playing from behind and we waist a lot of it.
- I don’t ever want to see another poster say we can run our offense fine without a five star RB. We need a STUD!! I’m a fan of ours but we need a difference maker. I know our starting CB’s are hurt but we have recruited well in areas but we need to get a couple studs in the back end.
Anyway GoVols!! Hopefully we can finish strong. Florida is going to be tuff in the swamp. And screw Vandy! Let’s put a foot up Pavia’s punk ass.
Jesus. I’m sick of this “well look at the injuries” BS. We didn’t lose tonight because of a lack of players and playmakers. Hell, our QB who came onto campus in May just dropped 300+ yards on the number one SEC defense. We lost tonight because of bad play calling, undisciplined football, multiple missed assignments, and terrible clock management. All of those are also why we lost UGA and Bama. And all of that is 100% on the coach and his staff. We keep blaming CJH and CWM for the back end play. Are they supposed to recover from 2 starting and possibly one top 20 pick not playing all year? We actually took one portal addition and made him a 2nd round pick instead of a nickel. We took a true freshman and have given him meaningful snaps to build on. We have a QB that has done wonders when coming into a system that he was learning on the fly. I'm sorry but 10-3 is still a great year. Will it suck to lose Aguilar and Brazzell and all the talent in CB, yes but I still think it is pretty impressive year and unlike most of you...I graduated in early 2000s and remember how dark it got so let's enjoy the success
What has this team shown you that says we can win in Gainesville? We just lost to a QB with a damn broken hand, so what shows you we can beat a Pavia led Vandy squad? We’re going 7-5 in Year 5 of Heupel’s tenure. People need to go ahead and accept that.I feel like Heupel has kind of dialed back the "balls to the walls" mentality he had...or maybe that was more Alex.
Right now though we have 1 offensive coach that came from the outside.
Alec Abeln was a promotion within and I'm not sure with how talented the TE room is supposed to be if the results have matched.
Elarbee been with Heupel since Missouri and we're getting good talent but also I thought he was supposed to be great at developing guys? Why do we see his OL still making the same mistakes every year with pre-snap penalties?
Halzle I don't know man...seems like he's always been with Heupel and maybe this is the area you really feel like are you just keeping him around because he's your buddy or is he good enough to be a OC/QB coach at this level?
Pope was an outside higher originally and then elevated. I think he's solid, this year we've seen really good play from the WR group.
But then oddly enough we've seen the defensive side bring in folks from outside and other than last year really not been a consistently good SEC defense.
Always rough after a close loss...I mean with the turnover we had this off season maybe 6-3 is where we should be, but all 3 losses we gave away the games making dumb mistakes at multiple levels so that's what is frustrating the most. Joey is better than Nico and I guess that gave some false hope...still if we just eliminate the self inflicted mistakes...pre-snap penalties, blown coverages, missed assignments or bonehead throws we're 8-1 easily right now.
Still 2007 was our last 10 win team before Heupel came to town...we absolutely can go 3-0 to end the season, we're still just beating ourselves. No one we lost to has out coached us or had a clear talent advantage.
BYE week then New Mexico State before going to the Swamp. Goal should be get as healthy as possible. Run the score up on the Aggies and get starters out as quick as possible to make sure everyone is fresh for the final 2 games.
