Preferred bowl opponent?

Yeah I don't care about a meaningless bowl. Said it in the first sentence.

You said the playoffs made them meaningless; they've always been meaningless. The Liberty Bowl and the Music Bowl and all the bowls like it have always meant pretty much nothing but extra practice.

Yeah so just don't play them. Problem solved.

Yes don’t blow off bowl eligibility. Vols had the easiest schedule in the conference in 2025 and after the schedule moves to 9 SEC games, the old Music City will look pretty good. Watching the bad news Vols tonight and the first half ineptitude, any decent bowl game will be welcome to end the season on a positive note.

That right there is why the CFP is so horrendously sad. It used to be going to Orlando for New Years was a fun time.

12 team in playoffs. Equivalent of the 6 big bowl games. The rest were already irrelevant, but still more fun, so partially agree. 👍🏻

Yeah I don't care if the whole team sits out and they let walk-ons play. It's a glorified scrimmage
They're going to sit out. Anyone with any draft stock will sit. Won't be seeing McCoy either this year because what is the point now

Don’t care who we play. Just win out and get another 10 win season in the record books

For reference, opponent matchups go:

Citrus Bowl - vs Big 10 team

Pool of 6 Bowls (all same tier/level, SEC front offices in tandem with the schools and bowl games decide who goes where, with considerations like not sending teams to recent bowls they recently played in and traveling distances for fanbases)

+ Gator Bowl - vs ACC team
+ Reliaquest Bowl - vs Big Ten team
+ Duke's Mayo Bowl - vs ACC team // Las Vegas Bowl - vs former PAC-12 teams (should be the Mayo Bowl, since A&M went to the Vegas Bowl last year and the SEC and Big 10 switch off who sends teams to Las Vegas each year)
+ Music City Bowl - vs Big Ten team
+ Liberty Bowl - vs Big 12 team
+ Texas Bowl - vs Big 12 team

...if Tennessee absolutely falls off and finishes 6-6, they could end up in one of the following 2 remaining bowls:

+ Birmingham Bowl - vs American Athletic Conference team
+ Potentially the Gasparilla Bowl - vs ACC team / vs Big 12 / vs former Pac-12 team / vs American Athletic team / vs Conference-USA team / vs MAC team / vs Mountain West team (pretty much this game can feature teams from any of 8 conferences)
