I have said it before and I will say it again now, Coach Heupel needs to stop hiring offensive analysts and start hiring defensive analysts…..a truck load of defensive analysts particularly if Coach Heupel plans on keeping his current defensive staff intact!

tOSU is the reigning National Champion in FBS. They are a virtual lock for the CFP this year.

UT is #1 in defensive touchdowns. That and $2 will get you a cup of coffee at the nearest Buc-ee’s.

Are you saying that Ohio State who spent the most on their team last year was a surprise to win a title? Wow!

And that this year they are spending $35m on their roster and are a lock to go back to the CFP is a surprise? Wow!

I bet they have a hard time staying #1 this weekend against the offensive juggernaut that is Penn St. It really is crazy how they’re able to be so dominant week in and week out . Then they get Purdue, UCLA and Rutgers. No weeks off in the B1G. Or is it no weeks on?
All "weaks" on.

Weak teams all the time, everytime.

No, I’m saying you wanted to compare a single stat line between UT and Ohio State. So let’s try this one: UT ranks 97th in defensive stop rate. Where does Ohio State rank?

That right there is the difference between these two defenses.

How many of each are on staff?

Imagine UT playing a schedule like Indiana five years in a row and then claiming your team and HC is the best in the country:

FIU (4-8)
Western Illinois (FCS)
at UCLA (5-7)
Charlotte (5-7)
Maryland (4-8)
at Northwestern (4-8)
Nebraska (7-6)
Washington (6-7)
at Michigan State (5-7)
Michigan (8-5)
at Ohio State (14-2)
Purdue (1-11)

Old Dominion (5-3)
Kennesaw State (6-2)
Indiana State (FCS)
Illinois (5-3)
at Iowa (6-2)
at Oregon (7-1)
Michigan State (3-5)
UCLA (3-5)
at Maryland (4-3)
at Penn State (3-4)
Wisconsin (2-6)
at Purdue (2-6)

You do realize we haven’t beaten a team with a winning record…we’ve got a chance tomorrow and then against Vandy to get wins against teams with a pulse.

You do realize that teams like Indiana and Ohio State can go thru a 9 game conference schedule and play 6 teams with losing records, name the last time Tennessee ended a SEC schedule playing 6 straight games against teams with losing records? or like Indiana last year where they went an entire season and didn't even play a team with a winning record until 2nd week of November

I think the Cignetti admiration has more to do with how they have improved above their historical norm and less to do with who they've beaten.
