Always thaought it was used and an indicator for signs. Have changed my belief to a simple “one out at a time,” three outs per inning. I never saw him use it for signs.

Preacher Man said it was for calling plays. If I remember correctly it was for Coach E on 3B when there were runners on base. But he would not divulge, on social media
