NCAA WoSo Field Projection (through 2 of 10/27's 3 games)

Surprise! Vandy's risen to the top line, thanks to beating Tennessee and Virginia's wobble in form.

Cavs' ACC placement is not helping them right now.

And we are very, very close to unseeded North Carolina.

2025 NCAA Bubble Watch

SEC

LOCK — Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Arkansas
BUBBLE — LSU, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Florida
.500 DQ — Texas A&M

Arkansas won the SEC title on the final day of the regular season, but it’s Vanderbilt that might be the big winner in the NCAA Tournament seeding race. The Dores’ win over Tennessee has pushed it up the pecking order to the point where it’s a legitimate contender for a #1 seed given big results through the season. I still suspect Vandy needs to make a very deep run on the beach to get there and perhaps get luck elsewhere, but they might be the league’s best hope for a high seed.

Arkansas and Tennessee are the two other locks in the league right now, but both have a little work to do in all likelihood to grab a coveted top two NCAA seed. The best scenario for each is to win their quarterfinal match and reach the semi-final match against each other, which would likely afford the opportunity for another statement win. A quarterfinal upset though for either would be bad news for high seed hopes.

Beyond them, it’s all about firming up any seed whatsoever come selection day. LSU is best positioned, likely well clear of the bubble and probably with little downside over the next few weeks. Mississippi State and Georgia look to be on the borderline for a seed and may need one win at the SEC Tournament to tip the odds in their favor. Alabama and South Carolina look in decent shape but may be vulnerable with an early upset and bubble chaos elsewhere. I’d still fancy both to qualify for the NCAAs comfortably.

Things get really dicey at that point. Oklahoma’s draw against Tennessee may be its most valuable result at this point, and the Sooners could really use a win against Mississippi State on Sunday, which would likely leave them safe. A defeat could mean a nervous wait, especially if there are bubble surprises. Kentucky vs. Florida on Sunday is a de facto elimination game. It’s more formal for Florida, who would slip below .500 with a loss. Kentucky’s resume likely can’t survive a defeat to UF, especially with bubble losses to Illinois and Ohio State. The loser is almost certainly out, while the winner may still need one more win to feel safe.

Texas A&M is still on the bubble in terms of rank but did not qualify for the SEC Tournament and is under .500, ending their season.
