Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Can someone explain to me the odds of us not winning a single coin toss this year in either regular time or overtime?
(0.5)^10

~0.1%

Is that actually true? Almost everyone chooses to defer. I know we've started games on defense this year.

Stick to one call and that won't happen.
*Math teachers everywhere hated that*

Lost our QB, lost our AA running back, one returning starter on OL, lost half our WR room. CJH and staff have been unbelievable patching together an offense. It’s like they went to a pick-a-part junkyard and built a race car, a really fast race car.

CJH has repeatedly proven he can field competitive teams with a roster that has issues. It's amazing what he's done.

The question now is why is he building a team out of a pick-a-part junkyard in year 5?

If he figures out how to assemble (and keep together) a deep talented team with very few holes in the roster we'll be unstoppable.

Bc players graduate and the portal is a thing to use where you can help your team

This is the first year I had to actually buy some—new house in an actual neighborhood. We dropped probably $20 on 3 bags for around 400 pieces. I assumed that was a good price. Is it not?
That will last till about 9.

Shudder the doors, turn off lights, kiss your babies and hopefully, hopefully you can get some re...wait. Hold it! Wife just said there's a slumber party.

Oh, I have 6, 9, and 11.

Everyone has a friend coming over. #blessed

Asked my Dad if he has any room in his palace. No room at the inn.
I’m honestly looking forward to the days they want to bring friends. Right now our school just doesn’t have a lot of opportunities to meet the parents to even exchange numbers and whatnot. It’s annoying!

He’s not. He’s doing what is expected. And people are making out like he’s doin some Harry Potter 💩!

Attrition is expected, especially nowadays
Like never before.

Yeah we lost a lot through graduation and portal, but that’s why you recruit. They are expected to fill the vacancies when it’s their time.

And when you are short in some areas there is the Amazon of CFB, The portal!

It’s what is expected of every coach,
Some do it better.
Heupel has done a good job on the Offensive side this year.

That is a great price. I just spent $15 on a medium size bag of Snickers. . . (which I'll probably end up eating and have to turn my light off on the porch, 😂)

As an extreme extrovert and empath, I see the importance of having friends. Teaches important stuffs like sharing and caring. Ive been told that i'm so far afield on introversion scale the test doesnt have a field for 'sits alone in the woods.' And like my parents taught me to care for others by 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps', its easy to see where other's are coming from😜Nd realllllly care👌

You'll have lots of opportunities to make friends. He/she will play outside, do soccer, baseball, volleyball, jiu jitsu. Or my favorite
arts and crafts.

Yeah agree - @Checker_the_Shire if you got 400 pieces for $20 you won the Halloween lottery. 10 bucks at Aldi's was buying what I would call a smallish bag. It's wild.
Beef is insane now too. Even bargain cuts are the previous price of steaks. I want to say Food Lion was trying to sell cube steak for 8/lb. We cut it out except for maybe a meal a week.

I think it's important to remember that it is a much different sport than it was in the decade of misery. The Bama and Georgia teams in that time period, that's over with. This idea you are going to be three deep at all positions with SEC talent that is prepared to play, it doesn't exist anymore. For any teams.

I don't think our depth or talent is a huge problem. Yeah you are a few injuries from Ty Redmond being a starter. So what? Everyone is. And for us, it happened.

One of two things is going on:

1. Across the board, at every position, we recruited a bunch of busts. Highly rated guys that aren't any good.

2. Talent isn't the problem.

We saw #1 get peddled out as an excuse for bad coaching for over a decade. So I'm just over that one. As if it makes a difference in year 5 playing nothing but players you recruited anyway.

On paper (even with injuries), we should be at least average. Hell, we replaced an unathletic slow walk-on safety from last year with an upper classman four star. Huge talent upgrade right? How's that talent improvement working out?

Probably bought the crappy candy..3 bags for $20 bucks..kids will come to the person's house one time and that will be it... Nothing like the rep of giving out crappy candy. Word spreads fast..

The only position on offense that he had to replace quickly was at QB, and that was an unusual circumstance. All 3 WR's came back and are talented. 2 of 3 RB's are being developed here. The OL had 2 transfers, but that is normal across all of football. 2 OL are freshmen, who are going to be great.

The defense needs an upgrade, but it is just true that losing your 2 best CB's has hurt us.

The staff took the approach to take more high school talent (and pay) than other programs. They knew youth would have some growing pains.
