It appears at least one school (Jacksonville State) has approached Pruitt about employment. He is under a "Show Cause" penalty until 2029 for his antics here at UT. He claims the NCAA is interfering with his ability to earn a living. I certainly don't want him back on Rocky Top; however, I love it when someone sticks it to the NCAA. I will say this about him, he did continue to pay a players mother AFTER he was fired. He was a moron for the pay to play stuff, but at least he kept his word to a family.

He was obviously not a good HC, but he got absolutely hosed by the administration and the NCAA. I would not call him a moron for paying kids. Pretty sure he didn't just start doing that when he got to UT.

I think he will win the lawsuit. Seems akin to non compete clauses. The judiciary is very hesitant to prevent someone from earning a legal living.

He was incredibly bad here. Wouldn't surprise me if he was decent at a smaller school in a small conference.

Is Jacksonville State the same as Jax State who played MTSU last night?

Considering that paying players is more or less legal now, it seems the punishment no longer fits the crime. Especially given that his efforts had minimal affect on the college football world.

Meanwhile, Michigan has received the equivalent of a slap on the wrist for actively cheating, getting caught, trying to conceal it, and their cheating absolutely had major implications to them winning the CFP.

I don't like the guy, but he should be allowed to coach again and immediately.

The guy is an absolute clown. Remember when he threatened UT saying there was widespread corruption at the school thru all sports and they would regret firing him? Eff him. He doesn’t deserve anything. CRB, a man of pure class, called him a liar. That should tell you everything you need to know about his character. For CRB to say something like that is telling. I hope he never coaches again except maybe high school.

Yes, it's the same school. Located in Alabama. Charley Pell was HC there in the mid 1970s

He was a poor head coach but let's just face it the punishment did not fit the crime. If you look at what has been going on at the NCAA's pet programs for years with them turning a blind eye, it is egregious and he should sue them for damages. To take a guys ability to make a living for doing what literally every other school and head coach was doing is ridiculous. He learned how to do it from their favored boy Saban.

His son played there (was on the team) a while back so he has some ties. Jax State has had some decent times in the past and has pulled some notable upsets. If he managed to get in a DC role there I’d say he’d do quite well. My guess is he will start at the very bottom.

I remember us beating Auburn under Pruitt - he had the D ready and he read the Auburn offense ever time they came to the line - he’d yell where the ball was going and was right about 90% of the time…he wasn’t a good head coach but he knew Gus’s offense better than Gus.

He may have a case to get an analyst job. They probably won't let him get a coaching gig...but blackballing him from the NCAA is a little extreme. His skills don't appear to translate over to the nfl.

They actually prepped for this game periodically throughout the Fall. Well before game week.

I see Beldar is still trying to "narfle the garthok" to return to coaching.

I'm fine with it honestly, so long as he keeps Tennessee's name out his mouth.
