Smokey X has cancer

At least he’s still here for now. I wonder if they will try to treat the cancer. I keep seeing some interesting theories on parasites and nutrition these days. Would be amazing to see the old boy beat cancer, even though he’s pretty old in blue tick hound years.

My last hound had to be put down due to cancer about 20 years ago and I haven’t wanted to go through that again ever since.
Yes I can certainly empathize with you brother. I’ve had to put down numerous canine friends over the years and each one
Takes a piece of my heart ❤️ that never really heals completely! So God Bless you brother ! I won’t say sorry for your loss because frankly I think that sounds cheesy and disingenuous. What I will say is one good way to remember your lost friend is to rescue another and your hound dog will be smiling down on you from heaven!!

We just lost our 14-15 year old cat (we had her for about 6.5 years, adopted her as a senior) and losing her has been so hard we don't think we want to get another again.

Pets become part of the family. Even mascots become part of a big family. It's not fun news.

Aw. Poor Smokey. I grew up in an old school household so sick animals were dealt with in a way that is abhorrent by today's standards.

I hope Smokey has no pain and good times regardless of the treatment choices his owners make.
I let my last one go too long and he had a bad few months. Just feel a need to let everybody know, don’t do that, even out of love.

We did too. McRib simply couldn't tolerate the idea of putting the animal down out of mercy. In retrospect, I should have been the "bad guy" and removed that burden from her.

Our cat wasn't eating right and was indicating pain in her head (she had a brain tumor). I had to be the one that made the decision. I've seen cats starve to death, and it's worse than anything. I miss the poor girl.

Struggling with that now with our 15 year old Shiba Inu. Cancer. We had to stop the chemotherapy UT had him on. Wouldn't eat or move while taking the medication. Hard to say goodbye. Smokey, Masaaki says he'll see you someday soon. Too soon.

Sad news that tears at my heartstrings. He has been a dang good blue tick hound! I’m very sorry my Vol friends. He has lived a very good life I’m sure, but it still sucks, cancer just sucks! I hope he can be comfortable and not suffer with the time left.
