how much bigger is 3? I know the boosters/engines were getting an upgrade, but I didn't know the vehicle itself was getting bigger.
Just a few feet taller; but the ship quick disconnect no longer matches up 1 believe. They are going to totally demolish pad 1 (leaving the tower) and instal a flame trench like in Pad 2.
In this picture, V3 is the middle one. V4 is going to be an absolute beast.

Info on Japan’s upgraded cargo spacecraft which launched to re-supply the ISS for the first time today:

Apparently it is also intended to re-supply the Lunar Gateway (remember that?) as well.

Sure seems like Elon has found a compelling reason to go all in on Moonbase Alpha - as a factory for building power satellites for space-based datacenters.

can someone explain the GW/TW thing to me? what do they mean?

the only thing I could think of was energy like gigawatts and terawatts, but that doesn't seem right.

He is talking the power generating capacity of the satellites he can launch from Earth once Starship is operational, versus what he believes is possible if manufacturing and “launch” of those satellites is shifted to the Moon.

ah, ok. that makes sense.

the launching part I don't have any qualms with, less gravity, less atmosphere. but producing that much seems like a huge leap. especially just the logistical problem of launching that many, plus the overcrowding we are already seeing.
