Would Josh Heupel LEAVE Tennessee for another job?

The biggest reason Heupel isn't leaving is becuase of Danny White. It was White that gave him his first HC job at UCF and believed in him enough to bring him to Tennessee.

After Heupel was kicked to the curb by Oklahoma the way he was you would have to think loyalty means alot to him. Tennessee has embraced him and his family from the start. I think he has everything set up really well here and there is no need to risk ruining what he has built.

I wish that someone could dig up the thread from the day that the Kiffin rumors first broke. I recall an absolute assurance from some involved that he had a great recruiting class and didn’t want to be involved in NCAA trouble. I don’t think Heupel would leave, but some people will never learn that they don’t know other people as well as they think they do.

Would he leave for the right job?

Absolutely.

Would he leave for UF or LSU?

No.
LSU is the one job that i would be worried about with him if they truly want to calm the program down. Hell even with the Chaos in that administration, it has to be enticing for a coach knowing the talent that is on autopilot to come there. There is no doubt he would have better classes and talent at LSU over Tennessee. Brian Kelly never had an identity there in regards to the program. Heupel among others does and an identity is what that program desperately needs.

With that said, my worry meter for him to actually go there is at 10%

Easiest way to avoid it all together is making the playoff. That means schools with openings will have to wait until New Years at minimum and they won’t wait that long for a coach that may or may not take it. If you’re a school that barely misses the playoff, the coaching carousel is gonna come calling to see interest as soon as the playoff selections are announced. I’d rather be in the playoff because it will be a foregone conclusion none of the 12 coaches will be entertaining vacancies in middle of getting ready for a playoff run.

What do you think is the right job?

Personally I think he’d have to listen if OU offered and told him they’d tell Stoops to get lost
Considering how emotional he was after the OU game last year/thanking the team for giving "a little extra" to beat the Sooners for him, I'm not so sure he thinks so highly of OU anymore.

Regarding the topic, I dunno. He and White are super close it seems, and I'd imagine so long as we're competitive in terms of salary for him/his assistants and NiL funding, I wouldn't think he'd leave for another college job. If we fall behind in those aspects though, anything goes.

Yall are stuck on 2015 and don't get it's 2025. In this new era of NIL in-state recruiting is no longer that important. Its about money now and resources. Tennessee is in a better position with regard to that than LSU. Texas and Oregon are really the only programs who are a step above us in terms of resources.

The only way a coach leaves a cash rich program is for one that is even richer. That's the game now. Not in-state recruiting base.

If that was the case, we would be pulling in top 5 classes with ease. We aren’t.

I too would like to read this thread, not to bash anyone, just for historical significance.

Because we're being smart with our money. When we've been in big recruiting battles for our top option we've always won. Look at Nico, David Sanders, Faizon, and Tristen Keys.

Also we've probably been paying a premium because of our lack of on-field success. Once the on-field success matches our competition then we won't have to pay a premium to get top talent and that should yield in better classes.

Florida's best bet would be Golesh - I pray they are stupid as usual.
LSU would be a minor concern but really they would be more likely to go after Kiffin

I think CJH is pretty solid here mostly because as many have said, Danny White - who also understands what Heupel wants. As long as the money is not too far off, I dont see him going anywhere for awhile.
