Game Thread: Lady Vols v Columbus state, Home, Wed., 6:30PM, "SECN+"(stream) (exhibition game)

UT points per possession: 1.526
CSU points per possession: 0.490

Janiah +62 (over +3/m!), Ruby +57, Mia +48, Spearman +47, Wolfenbarger +47, Cooper +45

Some players with fewer minutes:

Mya +31 on 11m, Civil +39 on 14m, Latham +26 on 10m (all almost +3/m)

Ruby with 6 offensiv rebounds! tied for the lead

Mia with 7 assists, Cooper with 6

Cooper with 6, Janiah with 7 combine for 13 steals.

Four girls had over 200 offensiv rating. Mia 252, Barker 213, Mya 211, Latham 200.

Five girls achieved a sub-60 defensiv rating. Spearman 47, Mia 48, Wynn 53, Mya 54, Cooper 54.

[EDIT for confusion: lower # is better for defensive rating, not worse; the 5 players listed were regularly a part of efficient defensive units, whether full court or half court]

[EDIT2: Six girls, actually: Barker had a 9.5?! That's insane.]

Go Big Orange!

No. They have 11 that play can really play this style of basketball and 3 others who are good players. They don’t need to tighten up anything with the rotation just because a typical rotation has always been 8-9 players. This team has 11 players that can really play every night and are SEC caliber talents.

We did play NC at their place and won 69 to 46 game only went three quarters. She will have to tighten up that rotation. She has about 9 players that can really play and five that can play well enough to play, but nine are dominating players.

I was thinking this as well I’m thinking with a occasional 12….two players will be left out this year everyone else will play

Defensive rating is hogwash.

The twins are special...
We've been trying to warn people. DJ Pauldo coached them to be tough as nails. Mia and Mya both can really shoot it once they get going and they are great defenders for their size. They are not scared of anyone and you'll see that when Tennessee start playing big games because their dad BUILT them that way.

I believe you could split this team up into 2 teams and both could finish in the top half of the league.

Everybody got to get use too playing together that's all. We kind a got sloppy for a spurt and it made a certain group look bad but if Tennessee plays under control...I think you could realistically see a 10-11 player rotation.

Interesting. Mind to explain?

Sample size thing?
Those ladies that were listed low were playing hard noised defense one on one. Sometimes they get the ball threw over them but they hustled back and very few easy shots for Columbus. They made quite a few tough shots or it would have been even ugliest game ever.

For defensive rating, lower is better. It's saying that Columbus' offensive did poorly while those girls were on the court.

I guess you can target Robertson, Mia Pauldo, and Jaida Civil as our top three three point shooters. Robertson 4 of 8, Pauldo 4 of 7, Civil 2 of 2. Prawl also made the one that she shot.
I for one was pleasantly surprised by the 3point shooting because earlier last month Coach made a comment that led me to believe that 3 point shooting needed a lot of work .
