Averaged 13th in Recruiting

Kiffin would have this program winning championships. He’s doing more with less at Ole Miss they never recruit well.

Ole Miss had the #1 and #2 transfer classes in 2023 and 2024. I wouldn't say that kiffin is doing more with less. He has had some big time players the last few years and still didn't win SEC or NC.

There is such a negligible difference between #1 and #15 the past couple of classes. It matters much more how you portal to fill holes, because everyone is going to miss on a few guys. You're going to have busts.

Look at Ole Miss.

Florida fans are trying to point to how they finished higher than Ole Miss in the last few cycles, but the last 4 cycles Lane has had a top 5 portal class including #1 and #3 classes.

You telling me you'd take Florida's roster over Ole Miss'? Ole Miss plays physical in the trenches. Florida had one dude who did on the DL but he's out injured. Florida has lost good players to the portal every cycle and not replaced them with like talent! Ole Miss usually brings in more talent than they lose in the portal. They have steadily improved that roster.

It's why you really can't strictly look at recruiting rankings to inform much of anything. Look at Texas Tech. Immediately winning by spending big in the portal. Look at how they've recruited.
thats a bad take.

in 2025
Texas was #1 with (5) 5 stars, and (14) 4 stars. average ranking 93.63, #148 in the nation.
Penn State was #15 with (0) 5 stars, and (20) 4 stars. average ranking 90.007, #345 in the nation.

2024
Georgia #1 (5) 5 stars, and (19) 4 stars, 93.37 average.
Penn State was #15 again. (0) 5 stars, (16) 4 stars, 90.59 average.

2023
Bama #1 (7) 5 stars, (20) 4 stars, 94.79 average.
Tamu #15 (2) 5 stars, (11) 4 stars, 91.51 average. (they had a small class to bring up the average)

In every single one of those years, Ole Miss has been ranked closer to Florida's class than the gap between #1 and #15. which you claimed was negligible. so not only is your info wrong, but its not even consistent.

2025: #7 Fla, #16 Ole Miss
2024: #13 Fla, #21 Ole Miss
2023: #13 FLA, #23 Ole Miss

What is Vandys ranking? How can they be ranked top 10 in the country while not being ranked top 10 in recruiting? Indiana?
Sure it helps having more blue chips but it's not the only answer. Gotta develop. Gotta have buy in.
And you must learn how to tackle
If you check the portal rankings, I’ll bet you find that both Vandy and Indiana have been very active in the portal. That’s as important as high school recruiting now if not more so.

We are tied for 8th/9th in SEC on Top 100 recruits.
SEC teams with most top 100 recruits; we go off sanctions for 2026
Bama = 33
UGA = 30
Texas = 27
A & M =17
LSU =15
Auburn = 13
Florida = 13
Oklahom= 12
Tennesse=12
USC jr =9
Ole Miss =7
Mizzou =6
Arkansas = 5
Miss State =4
Vanderbilt =2
Kentucky =1
Being behind Auburn and FLorida and tied with Oklahoma when they have all been in the toilet is bad actually.

Therein lies the problem.
That's why I thought the Heupel system was such an advantage. Thought it would allow us to compete with the big boys with lesser talent. Still, he will have us getting 8-9 wins each season...at least that's the hope. After seeing the schedule next year, I'm having some doubts.

A lot of will depend on what portal moves he can make this offseason the defensive side

Coaching is everything. Vandy is a prime example of that. so is Ol Miss and Mizzou. A good coach can make people punch above their weight.
On the other hand, so is LSU and Florida. A bad coach can't get talent to perform at minimum levels.

It takes more than money. It takes talent evaluation, talent development, and raw coaching to win. And not just 1 coach. You have to have raw coaching skills across the board. We have that on offense. Defense is a mess and the singular reason we aren't a top 5 team. We have the talent on paper. We can't get the rubber to meet the road on defense.

Yep. Gotta wonder what the next excuse will be when these crippling sanctions end?

He has yet to win anything of significance, the very thing many complain about Huepel and even a handful are ready to fire him, though some won't just come out and say it. And Id bet they'd all trade for Kiffin right now, as I suspect you would.

He aint coming here. I don't think he will leave OM for anywhere but Bama, but thats my gut. If he does happen to surprise me and land at Florida itll be that much sweeter when we whip they ass every 2 years.
If he gets a shot at LSU, he'd be a fool not to jump at that job.

No difference in finishing with the best class instead of the 15th class? Really?
There is a difference. But not enough difference to guarantee the 1st recruiting school a championship and guarantee the 15th recruiting school the 15 spot.

Should we just stop playing games and place EOS rankings on schools based on recruiting classes without taking snaps?

No. We should try to recruit like the team that keeps on whipping our asses year in and year out.

Or, we could try to recruit at the level of the teams that have won the past few SEC or National Titles.

How 'bout that holmes?

lol, we are. our talent level has gone up. the difference between us and Georgia/Bama is smaller than it has been in the last probably 15+ years.

Heupels recruiting has gotten better each year.

2026: 2 5* 13 4* (and we aren't done yet)
2025: 1 5* 16 4*
2024: 2 5* 11 4*
2023: 1 5* 13 4*
2022: 0 5* 7 4*

we are currently 5th in the SEC, 8th overall. yeah yeah yeah you want to immediately be number 1, boohoo. we are getting better. when that trend stops, you can complain.
