Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I have no idea what real retirement is yet. I’m about to start finding out in 5 more weeks. And I can’t wait

I’m gonna try and hang on and contract for a couple more years until I’m 62, but if I start to feel unappreciated or bored I’ll give a two weeks and hang it up and just play golf and ride my bike everyday. I definitely don’t want to hang it up completely during the Winter months though. Winter sucks for play time, I’d rather work through it.

I turn 62 in April. While I agree working thru winter makes sense I’m under utilized and bored out of my damn mind. And I can fish and play golf year around down here in TX so that is what I’m going to do.

They may actually make a play to try and get me to renew. I’m simply not interested.

I understand completely and don’t blame you one iota. Enjoy! Wish I was under utilized a bit more, I screwed up and became essential, what a dumbass move that was.

Oh I’ve been very damn careful to make sure I would never be essential again. I’m not willing to give them that level of commitment ever again.

It’s the easiest money I’ve ever made. But in looking at my financial models I’ve got enough to keep our same lifestyle over our projected years left. How much is enough? I think for me I’m there. And honestly my health is suffering a bit. I don’t blame the company for that it’s my fault. But they are a distraction I don’t need and I need to focus on getting my weight back down, get in shape, and getting off these damn high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar meds.

Hmm...I thought you were mid-50's.

Had to take my veteran buddy Pops to the ER this morning. He has a pretty bad respiratory infection. Chilling with him at the hospital now while they run all the tests and get him pumped up through this IV. I think hes gonna be OK, but probably on oxygen from now on. Hes 78yo. Prayers for Pops appreciated.

Those records are worth a pretty penny if kept in good condition. New records are $30-40 these days. Have bought my daughter several LPs. Wish I had my Dads record collection from the 60s thru 80s. I definitely wouldnt sell them.
I gave away all my records to one of my roommates when I graduated from college. I didn't want to have to transport them out to Arizona. I heard years ago that many 80's album covers had become collectors items.
