That’s because from my experience most of them are POS’s. And whomever made the decision to create the USB charging only cable (doesn’t have the data lines in it) needs to burn in hell for eternity. I’ve wasted so much time trying to upgrade devices and having usb troubles to only find out it’s the wrong cable. I now have a golden cable I keep by the desktop to try and avoid that situation in the future.Im hurt..ND called my moms usb cable a pos.
I have a litmus test for any young engineer. If they aren’t willing to at least try to change their own motor oil or do simple automotive maintenance I’m likely to just discount them. And that simple test has served me well in parsing the ones that are basic analytic types vs actual hands on problem solvers. My son is an engineer and we were building a shed roof over a pool bar. 3 tries and he still couldn't get the birdsmouth on the rafters cut right, wasted education.

Thought your litmus test might be to dip them in a strong acid or base to see if they change color.I have a litmus test for any young engineer. One I’ve personally tested that checks out all the USB power and signal lines that can do any task I need to do.In 30 words or less, what's a golden cable?
