OU has played 3 teams currently ranked in the Top 25.
* Home vs Michigan : won 24-13
* Neutral site vs Texas: lost 23-6
* Home vs Ole Miss: lost 34-26

OU road games this year:
* @ Temple: won 42-3
* @ South Carolina: won 26-7

UT has played 2 teams currently ranked in the Top 25:
* Home vs UGA: lost 44-41 in OT
* @ Bama: lost 37-20

I realize their schedule is rated as tougher, but with only two road games to date, they have had favorable environments. We need to make Neyland as inhospitable as possible on Saturday night. It will be interesting to see how our OL performs as OU has 29 sacks (tied for 2nd in the country) vs our 27 (tied for 6th). Given time, I think we should be able throw against them. Ole Miss threw for 315 with 431 total yards. We have to get pressure on Mateer.

Should be a great game!
They have scored no more than 26 points in FBS games.

UT is ranked # 100 in total defense, allowing 400 Yds per game. Okla's Defense is ranked #6, giving up 240 YPG. Vols give up 31ppg, OK 12.5. AND, the Sooners have played a tougher schedule. Nobody has any idea how this game will play out, but Tennessee had better get some stops and the offense had better stay on the field; since logic tells us Okla will have an easier time at stopping UT than vice versa.

You forgot to look at who each defense is playing if you wish to apply logic. It only makes since to compare the defenses to each other if they were playing the same offense. They are not.

Also, every “tough” team on their schedule so far has been nightmarishly bad on offense with the lone exception of Ole Miss

if Ole Miss can score 30+ point on OK in their house then I think Tennessee will be fine scoring on them in Neyland.

Oklahoma just arrived at the tough part of their schedule last week so we will see how much those defensive rankings go down

All I can do is list the defensive stats for each team. Is it possible that Okla's defense played a part in the opposing teams' performance? Does that make any since?

I mean who they play this week. Meaning our offense is significantly better than their defense. When assessing who will have an easier time getting a stop, that’s one of the most significant data sets to consider.

You ignored that.

It doesn't matter. Once again the Tennessee defense will Oklahoma look unstoppable just like they did against MSU, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, and at times even against Kentucky. Once again, the Tennessee offense will have to be nearly perfect to win and the mouth breathers will be calling for Heupel's head while ignoring the elephant that is in the room, Tim Banks.

We can hash these stats till the cows come home. Then try to compare common opponents or schedule strength. Nobody knows what's going to happen. I'm just looking for a win on Saturday night.

The crowd will be huge in this game. Dark mode, Neyland at night, I say we get in Mateer’s head. They haven’t played in a hostile environment this year.
