The Atlanta Braves

Gotta go get dudes in the portal. Especially with the uncertainty at QB next season
We are Tier 2 in terms of talent right now. We were around Tier 3 when CJH got here.
Gap between Tier 1 and Tier 2 is about as big as the gap between us and somewhere like UNC if we are honest with ourselves. We've come a long way, but there is still a monster gap between us and the best. The portal is the only way to close those gaps. Got to have impact guys every year from the portal.

We should have beat UGA and in some ways we outplayed Bama. I think if we were more disciplined and had better clock mgmt, we’re right there. The gap isn’t that big. Indiana is #2.

Huepel has one of the most undisciplined teams in the SEC. ESPECIALLY at home.

He is ABSOLUTELY the worst at clock management.

OP is smarter than me about football and has way more inside knowledge about the football program. But I'm with you Wick. I think there are deficiencies but in today's new age, I'm not sure any team outside Ohio State can say they are elite at every position with talent. We definitely have to get better in the LB room (and with Perlotte/Harmon, there seems to be progress) and at safety but Vols are literally two plays from beating a top 5 Georgia team and at the very least, giving Bama a real scare on the road.

I honestly don't get it.
It also coincides with Heup seemingly becoming more conservative on offense and not flooring it/keeping the pressure on after big momentum swings.

Although that could also be his 2023-present offenses just aren't as good as 2022. I'd have to go back and look, but there were probably instances in 2022 where the first series after a big turnover was a series of vanilla plays, but it didn't feel conservative because those runs up the middle were going for 8 yards apiece, or Hendon was running for 12 yards after the play broke down. I knew he was really good in 2022, but I don't think I appreciated just how well he operated the offense. He just so infrequently missed something or made a mistake.
