Maybe he is and we are just hypersensitive to his failures???
He's improved from where he was against uga, right?

I mean I haven’t seen it. Isn’t he the one that made the half hearted tackle attempt against bama? I haven’t seen any great coverage, pass breakups, ints, etc. I mean it’s possible I’ve missed something but I haven’t seen any upside as of yet. He is a true freshman and maybe he just needs a good offseason to bulk up some and get more physical.

Honestly I don't recall any of those things either. I guess i was comparing how he got repeatedly picked on against uga and the number of "picked on" moments are decreasing.
Admittedly thats not a great metric for improvement.

I don’t think he’s been picked on like he was against UGA but teams have been able to do just about whatever else they’ve wanted. Lately a 1 yard pass ends up being a big gain or a td. Run defense is nothing to tout either. Luckily they have forced some turnovers.

I don't fault him for run support because his position dictates he's the last line of defense for runs.
But there is a lot of suck and he has his share of it.

Hopefully something magically happens and things get better. At times they’re out of position. Then when they’re in position they can’t make the tackle or shed a block. Then sometimes they look completely lost.

With respect to future improvement, the three plays i described earlier today are very disheartening

my two cents, that isn't even worth a cent, is that Redmond is more hurt by his youth than speed. I think he is thinking more than reacting out there, and that makes him slower. you put a double move on him, and you can pretty much see him freeze.

I think he is naturally more suited to cover bigger receivers, and just can't cover good routes. We need him to be more of that cover corner and are essentially playing him out of position due to injury.

He definitely shouldn't be covering the fastest guy on the field as he does get beat by speed, but that is more a schematic issue imo. have Hood or whoever our speed CB is supposed to be cover those guys.

I don’t disagree at all, but they didn’t. He has the ability to play if his mind is right, sit his ass and leave him there until it gets right.

Hubbs that runs VQ has said since the moment Boo came back to practice that he is gone next year. At least a dozen times. Apparently Boo is only here because he has no other option. I personally think he got his ass beat in that "confrontation" with team leaders on defense and has been checked out since that moment. Truth will emerge eventually, probably next year. The DB coaches and Banks had to sell him on trying to put good film out there to increase his value for the transfer coming. Hope he hasnt got assurances from Deion or elsewhere that hes gonna get paid and just quit on our team. He definitely jogged while HIS WR ran down field for a TD Saturday. Boo IS fast enough to make up those 2 steps on an average WR with his almost elite/elite speed as we have seen on punt returns. Thats why he got benched after that play and didnt come back until the backups were playing. If he has checked out then we need to sit his butt down permanently...BUT if Hoods calf injury means he cant go for OK we are well and truly screwed. Hopefully Boo pulls his head out of his butt...and Hood can play. Dont know that we beat OK without them.

VolQuest’s Austin Price joined 104.5 on Tuesday and he shared the latest update on Carter ahead of the Oklahoma game.

“I still will be shocked if he plays this week against Oklahoma, but maybe he guts through it,” said Price when asked about Carter. “He was gutting through it the previous few games.

According to Price, Hood is dealing with a pulled muscle in his calf.

“As for Colton Hood, he’s got a pulled muscle in his calf,” said Price. “He will continue to rehab all week and see if he can be able to be a go for Saturday night.”
