Has McCoy decided to shut it down for this season??

That's not really accurate. We've seen plenty on instances of similar injuries and it not matter too much. Maybe he falls 10-15 spots. But he's still a first rounder.

Jeffrey Simmons tore his ACL while preparing for the draft. He was still a first round pick, even with teams knowing he would likely miss most of his rookie year and even if he did return for part of the season, he likely wouldn't even be super productive.

Jameson Williams was drafted 12th overall despite tearing his ACL in the NCG.

And unlike those cases, McCoy has the advantage of actually being fully healthy going into the Combine, where he can showcase his talents and skillsets. And will surely be ready to start mini-camp next fall.
And Simmons had off field concerns as well.

Torn ACL's used to be career elders.

Having said that, didnt we have lineman in the mid 2010's that played a whole season with a torn ACL. He put off surgery until the end of the season so he could play.
I believe Brett Kendrick. Difference being there’s nowhere near as much lateral movement or agility from an offensive tackle as is required from a cornerback

Oh I know. I didnt mention it to suggest that McCoy could play that way too. I just meant ACL tears used to be automatic career enders, and Kendrick managed to play a whole season with one. Medical science has come a long way!

I miss the days when you had to drag people off the field.....the days when real MEN played the game.
when they developed CTE and other debilitating infirmities, and we didn't have to watch or think about that. A time of juicing, patching them up, running them like greyhounds til they broke down and another batch of fresh bodies was inserted. Just for our throbbing-forehead vein viewing pleasure.

Ah, them good old days.
