there could still be 2 more openings this year (Auburn and KY).

UF and LSU appear to be the current cream of the SEC crop.

Bobby P may get the Arkansas job by default. Who knows, one of the other D1 schools may go after him.

Will Lane entertain LSU or UF?

Wish I would have been better friends with Jimmy Sexton at UT, he is the big winner in all of this!!!!!!

Kentucky cannot easily fire Stoops. His contract stipulates they have to pay the full sum in 60 days, which is about 40 mil. That is a lot for a school that is also heavily invested in basketball.

Other schools usually have a payment plan over several months or even years for such a substantial sum. Kentucky gave him a sweet contract after the second 10 win season so they are stuck with him at least for another year.

Beamer's seat is getting warm too.

Then if you have coaches bolt from Mizzou-FL or Ole Miss to LSU, you have follow on coaching vacancies.

It’s really crazy

What’s even more crazy is that 90% of Bama national was ready to fire DeBoor after the Fl St game. If they would have lost to SC last week, the heat would have been back on him as well,

I'll be honest. Somehow no one is talking about Beamer's decision to go for 2 way early in the 3rd quarter to chase points. Had he kicked the FG, they are up 1 instead of a tie game after Bama tied it up.

He was fighting with press as well last week about his OC changes.

I think he's toast, but I also don't think USC can compete with Penn State, LSU, Florida, and Arkansas to get hires to can be sold as splash hires. That doesn't even factor in Auburn if they kick tires on Freeze.

Stoops might want out of there just as bad given he was about out the door and headed to aTm…so he thought. He might agree to amend that pay out over time. Who in the world is negotiating some of these contracts for these Univeristies? Talk about kicking yourself in the nads.

I'll be honest. Stoops got a bad deal with the A&M job. He wanted out of Kentucky at a high point for his career and they leaked his name to get instant reaction. Once he had to stay at Kentucky, he pretty much checked out.

Sat with a KY friend of mine at the game Saturday night. KY fans have this weird relationship with him now after trying to go to aTm. They don’t seem to hate the man, they just want him to go. They know Stoops does, too since, as you said, he’s more or less been checked out ever since the whole aTm snafu.

The high point of his career was a few years prior to that (2018-2021 time period). If A&M (or another big job) had an opening after the 2021 season, he very well might have gotten the job.

I completely agree with you that after A&M shut the door in his face, he completely checked out. I think he actually started wanting out of UK a few years before that. Him feuding with Cal the year prior to his attempted A&M move I think was indicative of stuff boiling behind the scenes.

They don't care enough about football to get truly enraged at him, plus he has had some good seasons there.

The only real fair critique one can make about his time there is that should have a much better record against Tennessee. For most of his tenure there we haven't been very good. Vandy was able to take way more advantage of that than UK was.

With the P4 openings already on the table, any team, USCjr included, that pull the trigger from here on out are totally out of touch with reality. Anybody with a warm or hot seat right now and is not fired yet, can probably relax till game 6 next season.

KY has had a one and done effort. One loss and they're done. Up until this season, their schedule has favored 5-0, 6-0 starts for a few years, then they hit the gauntlet. They would ride pretty high, and hte ensuing finish was on padded seats. This year the losses came early and often. They've had no buffer to the typical 2nd half of the season they've had before.

I don't know why its him specifically, but I think some school is going to wind up settling for a PJ Fleck type.

A coach who had great mid major success, got a job in a power conference and has been pretty hoe hum there.

Probably would have been a far more successful P4 coach had he not gone to Minn. He had a lot of appeal when they took him. And got them a lot of exposure first year or two with alot of his noise, and mild success. But, everything faded back into the norm for Minn and he's a longer shot now IMO. He's kind of the forgotten could have been for lack of a better term. He may could regain his status at a better program. Kind of surprised has hasn't gone fishing. You just don't hear his name. But, to be fair even Saban would have been ho hum at Minn.

Well Minnesota has a hard ceiling. Like he is making the best of it, but he definitely could have jumped by now.

Another guy I hope to see in the SEC is Matt Campbell. He's topped at Iowa State and needs to take a chance.

Yeah. Matt's been out there for a while. The only thing that has held him back is ISU's ceiling. And he's more attractive than Fleck. But, you could see both on a few search lists. Could do worse than Fleck, but how would he fair down here anywhere? To BKish or would it work for him? He's one that could keep PSU where it's at at a minimum. Not sure of his big game prowess since Minn is not a school that can get hte players for the big games. Agree though. both have done as much as those schools will allow.

I thought once Riley bailed on LSU and OU to go to USC, Campbell would have been the rockstar hire at LSU>

Don't know if he was in the mix since the AD's only goal was to prove he could hire a "BK" type, but Campbell would be rolling at LSU about now, and likely would have had a natty with the roster on hand during Daniels two years. He is legit. A travesty of justice no natty went to Baton Rouge with Daniels under any half nit wit coach. Campbell and his ISU staff would be a really quick fix down there. Might have to bump up his DC a bit. Don't know.

But, any incoming SEC coach needing to shore up a new D staff should feel out Muschamp and see if he is ready to jump back on a DC job.
