The Atlanta Braves

@zjcvols what did you think of the bball team?

I am concerned about the outside shooting outside Jakobi. They’re gonna bully ball teams to a lot of wins. Really long, defensively was awesome outside Boozer defense and he’s a freak. Ament looked nervous, I’m giving him a pass. Should be another really good team.

I did not realize how porous Oklahoma has been on offense this year looking at the numbers and watching Ole Miss. It's going to be a weird, weird game.

From a different forum:

"I absolutely love what the coaches in the AFL are doing w/ Sinnard's 4-seamer from a spin & shape perspective. Here's a comparison of his 1st game (prior to getting much instruction) vs. a mash-up of his 2nd & 3rd games:

  • 10/14 (prior to getting much instruction) - spin = 2485 RPM, IVB = 16.0" [0 whiffs generated]
  • 10/18 + 10/25 (implementing instruction) - spin = 2611 RPM, IVB = 18.5" [9 whiffs generated].
This bump in spin & IVB combined w/ Sinnard's velo (95.5 MPH) & high release point (~6.8') makes Sinnard's 4-Seamer a real rarity among MLB pitchers:

  • he'd be top-8 in vertical release point
  • among those 8 he'd be #1 in spin (by nearly 200 RPM)
  • among those 8 he'd be #2 in velo (trailing only Pete Fairbanks' 97.3 MPH)
  • among those 8 he'd be #3 in IVB (trailing only Yesavage & Pivetta & pretty much equivalent to Verlander)
  • among those 8 he'd be #2 in HBreak (his 7.7" only trailing Verlander's 8.9")
  • lastly, unless his stride is really short, then his arm angle of ~47° would probably put his extension at no worse than #2 among those 8 (Pivetta's 6.9' might be tough to beat).
Needless to say, there's stuff here to like!"
