Presumably there are a ton of schools that he'd take the call from and talk to. Of course he's going to take a call from Penn St, UF, or LSU.

If you're talking schools where he'd seriously consider leaving, that list is much smaller. The OU situation is still kind of complicated. If Bob Stoops wasn't still hanging around there, I think there's a 95% chance he'd leave for OU if offered. As long as he's involved there, it is more complicated.

If the Ohio St job ever opened and they offered it to him, he'd take it. He probably could be hypothetically money-whipped by LSU or UF, but I don't hear his name come up at all with their current openings.

Even last year when the DL didn’t play well (UGA and OSU) where teams had talent to block them, our defense was not good.

We had grown men (Covid Sr’s playing a 5th and 6th years) playing DL last year.

We don’t have that luxury this year as most are very young.

I watched Golesh up close this past weekend at the Memphis game on the 15th row behind the USF bench. Although his team lost in a heartbreaker, he’s establishing a good culture and I can tell that his players love playing for him. They ran the no huddle to perfection as well.

Only job I would be worried about Heupel is OU. Even then, Danny white will hire a winner. No doubt about that. Golesh would be good. Kiffen would love to come back no matter what people want to believe.

With so many big openings, it’s reasonable to consider someone may come after Heupel

However, has he done enough at Tennessee to warrant you paying $50M+ to fire your current coach to get him?

Not so sure

If he had his current Tennessee record at Miss State - maybe. But Tennessee is a major program.

I’ve enjoyed the Heupel era and think we still have big things ahead. But not sure the big names will want to poach him.

They are just a better all around team than us...if our defense was at least just average and not the worst in the SEC I would feel differently. We could very well lose all three of these games just because our defense is pure 💩

It is really disheartening to watch this going on...I don't for the life of me understand how they can be THIS putrid...but they are.

And then bump Heupels pay to $15 million a year and a huge buyout clause so OU doesn’t try to take him. Ha

Facts. When you watch the breakdown film where you can see the entire field it isn’t the scheme as much as the personnel. Our defensive backfield is littered with 3* and Turrentine 🙄. The issue is more roster management than scheme.

FWIW I think that is why they put up with Boo’s off-season antics so much. We are that bad at the safety and star positions.
