This Saturday will define our season.

Like every other game on the schedule, we’ll have to score 35 at an absolute minimum to give ourselves a chance.. it sucks, but it is what it is. 8 games into the season, the defense isn’t going to magically change or improve.

Tennessee can absolutely go 0-3 against OU, Vandy & Florida. I don’t think that’ll happen, but it certainly wouldn’t surprise me. Our pass defense is just that bad. Historically bad.

Florida defines the season for me. Its now or never. I can handle an OU loss. I cant handle another Florida bedwetting.
A Vandy bedwetting at home would be worse. Imagine Vandy eliminating us from playoff consideration on our own home field while simultaneously punching its own ticket. Hard pass on that above all else. I desperately want to end the Gainesville curse, but the Vandy scenario would be worse.

It would really suck for Vandy to actually own the state, but that could mean Vandy was 11-1. 10-2 at worse.
Florida is so bad, they fired their coach.
However, I will concede that by dropping Florida as an annual opponent, it wouldnt actually be as bad as losing to Vandy (however I think Vandy is mediocre next year without Pavia, even if Lea stays)

Agreed. Florida is the remaining game that defines our season.

And beyond, because we're turning the corner against Florida as a program. The next step in that transition is to beat them in the Swamp. We're on a winning streak against them at Neyland, now we need to expand it to include their turf.

We're not going to win 10 years out of 10 against the Gators, not yet. But we're slowly making our way there. This is the next big step in that program-versus-program evolution.

Go Vols!

p.s. But of course, let's beat Oklahoma, too. And Vandy, of course. Heh.

IMO losing to FL this season is flat out unacceptable. Someone tell me that this isn't the most beatable Florida team since before Steve Spurrier (35 years). we're playing a sub .500 team with no head coach. we've already broken out of losing to these goons we did it 2 out of the last 3 years. If we lose this game it means one thing, our coach is incapable of teaching discipline and perseverance and he has a major MAJOR problem winning road games. I refuse to even call this a "big" road game. with this crappy Florida team this game should be no different than how we just trounced Kentucky at their place.

all of the losing we have done in Gainesville has had more to do with terrible Tennessee coaches than how beatable Florida actually is. we're supposed to have a winning coach now so let's see some wins down there.

I hope so. I don't even live in Tennessee anymore so I can only imagine how annoying it must be in the Nashville area but just knowing some Vandy people it is bad enough.

If the end game is anything other than settling for a toilet bowl then winning out is the goal. There is no choice between I would rather beat this team than that team, its winning the next 4. Hoping that's the mentality the team has going forward.

Actually I think we will have to score more than 35 to win

Agree...every game matters from here on out as always...WINS are all that matter...not stats, not yards, not points just the W

10-2 and we go to playoffs, 9-3 and we go to a Florida bowl and play a Big Ten team, really the only two options at this point
Plenty of undefeated or one loss teams to assume were in at 10-2.

Up to now, our record is exactly what most people thought it would be and the losses came from exactly who most people thought they would come from.

For the first time all year, we are playing a team in Oklahoma that most would consider our equal as far as on paper talent. We have similar records. And we are both vying for a playoff spot. At no other point this season has the stakes been higher! This Saturday, as some would say, is "nut-cutting" time! We will see just what this team is made of and how bad they want to get into the playoffs!
I will not be there this weekend but Neyland needs to get

LOUD!!!

ROWDY!!!

OUs defense is legit. I think this will be the lowest scoring game of the year for us. I just don’t see how we can win this game with our defense.

If that is true then our chances of winning are not good because we cannot win with a low scoring game for our O. Hope unfrozenman is correct. This is a playoff elimination game for the loser.
