Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Yes he was, but his son is already a better player, more athletic, a better shooter and can do it all. Looks like a player of the year candidate already as a freshman. We have no answer for him.
As another poster said (in the game thread I think) he could be starting in the NBA.

he might beat me up..never been beat up by a woman before

Me neither but ive been hit with a haymaker from 2 of them. One of which is my wife. I would never physically harm a woman though unless she was trying to kill me with a weapon etc. Killing me slowly over decades is apparently something I can tolerate though.

I was wrong....this is 1st time 3 WRs have 100yds since Callaway Palmer Jennings @ Misery in 2019

The sad thing is all it took for this to happen and Joey to throw for 400 again was for guys to NOT DROP balls

They mentioned during the game that we're in the 90th percentile of dropped balls this year, I think.

Elander announced as baseball coach. you like? you dislike?

Saw that. I really like it, surprised DW went that route. Really thought or well just had a gut feeling that he'd f^ck it up trying to go big and in the process run off the current staff. I think JE will do great things with the baseball program.

Do you distrust DW's ability or discernment as AD?

I had some down time today. I took a look at our UK game Freak posted. I looked at UK's 3 scoring plays in the 1st half. Our defense is having troubles for same or similar issues each time.
1. eye discipline (sorry for the butch-ism).
2. assignments.
3. impatient.
4. talent / experience issues.

TD1:
Beasley should be assigned to the flats. This is his play to make. He creeps up on the line before snap and aggressively pursues the RB anticipating he will get the ball. Pass goes to the sideline and now Beasley is way out of position. Redmon or McMurray gets manhandled by the blocker. Another blocker handles Turrentine (maybe?). A pursuing LB, possibly Spillman, pushes Farooq out of the way and out of the play in pursuit. The rest are out of the play with bad angles. Hood runs stride for stride but never attempts a dive at the feet.

TD2:
Boo is put into coverage. His receiver is 2nd from the outside and he is playing close to the line. They two receivers are kind of bunched over there. That placement on the field is very important. He is way out there. It is the short side of the field. He was watching the play action pass the whole time. He was flatfooted at the hike. He was literally beaten on the first step from scrimmage. He had no chance. By the time he realized the RB was out of play, his assignment was already passing him by. He is STAR so he has both pass coverage and run support but his team mate was covering the RB already. He either is confused, undisciplined, doesn't trust his team mate, too hungry to make a highlight or some combination of factors.

TD3:
A hot mess. Basically had 8 in the box. Redmon follows his assignment in motion. At snap, we are playing heavy on the Right side. Telander goes Ham towards the line as if run. He 'handed off' the TE and no one took him. We had 3 players standing around on the R side. UK QB actually made the harder throw to Redmon's assignment in back of EZ. The TE Telander handed off was wide open on the left side in the flat. Nobody within 15 yards of that guy.

At this point in the season, I don't know how you "coach up" these deficiencies. These players are not reading the same alignments by the O. They aren't playing within their assignments. They are undisciplined, inexperienced, and talent deficient.

I would like to see us be create some blitz packages for Boo, Perlotte and Spillman. Boo is a liability in scheme but has the talent to be a "go do this play" kinda of guy. Perlotte and Spillman because of the flashes of talent from them. Telander honestly looks like a run defender but not an every down LB.

Good analysis and every single word of your conclusions are true. Boo is good at exactly 2 things on defense based on his play this season: sacking the QB on Nickel Blitz, and forcing fumbles like the 2 vs ETSU?. I like Telander as a person and a run stopper, but he cannot cover and the whole SEC knows it. I understand that he is a team leader but he isnt going to the NFL and therefore needs to be replaced. Arion Carter is probably gone, the starters next year need to be some combination of Spillman, Perlotte, Harmon unless the two top100 LBs we have coming in as freshman for 26 manage to beat someone out. We need sideline to sideline rovers with elite quickness like Perlotte on the field. We will be much better again on defense next witj better corners, LBs, and safeties

Perlatte is six foot four Which I found very surprising when I checked the roster. He moves incredibly fast For his Height. He's not Bulky though. Makes me think that maybe in the future He becomes A hybrid de/blitzer on some plays.

At its worst this will set up the program to be in a strong hiring position down the road.

Big fan.
