Sources: LSU officials discussing Kelly's future

A day after a deflating 49-25 loss to Texas A&M in Baton Rouge, LSU met to discuss the future of coach Brian Kelly, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Sunday. Though no resolution has been reached, Kelly did leave the office early on Sunday afternoon.

They panicked when Reilly said no and then wanted to make a splash hire instead of settling.

On paper it was a great hire. But man it did not work out.

I can’t help but laugh at Florida now. They got so screwed by LSU deciding to boot Kelly.

I’ve lived in Baton Rouge & it’s the only program in the SEC where the governor is the real boss. I wouldn’t be surprised to see AD Woodward get fired also. The Governor ain’t happy about that contract buyout & id say he will oversee the next deal.

LSU rolled the dice on this year. They hit boosters up for extra NIL spend totaling around $18mil. LSU is losing 16 starters off this years team. Next year is a rebuild for Kelly or the new guy.

I really hope we win out. Easier to keep schools away from Heupel if we are still playing for something.

Eventually there are going to be so many open jobs, some schools are gonna make crazy ass money to established coaches when the homerun hire doesn’t come their way

The best thing going for ole Miss with all of this is they are set to go 11-1 and make the playoff. And Kiffin isn’t leaving a playoff team in the middle of the playoff run with a team he built. So that means schools would have to wait till almost new years on him.

That’s advantage Ole Miss in regards to Kiffin
