Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Gator fans do NOT want to see that happen. They are already mad at their administration for not firing Billy last year when there were fewer openings.
UF vs lsu vs ole Miss bidding war for kiffin?

Someone’s going to luck out missing on kiffin and get Brent key/Jon sumrall/alex golesh.

This place is about to burn down...I just don't see us winning against Florida on the road or against Vandy or Okie at home...purely because of this pathetic "defense" that can't defend against anything.

I hope I am wrong...I really really hope I'm wrong...but I just have zero faith in this defense holding any of those teams to less than 33...and all three have by far good enough defenses to hold us under 28.

Giving up that many points and yards to this abomination of an offense is inexcusable..

Somebody please change my mind..🤦
I’d say it’s most likely we go 2-1 against OK, UF, VU.

Again, most likely being we beat Oklahoma & Vanderbilt at home, and lose to Florida in the swamp?

You think this place would burn over a 9-3 regular season, plus a bowl for 10-3?

The announcer just now in the Saints game said the Saints defense was playing like 2009. I had to google the year just to confirm what I initially thought. That was Bountygate. Wild, man.

Some fans are really short sighted. Banks has been a bust this year and a liability, but after last season NOBODY wanted him fired and many were concerned we might lose him as a head coach elsewhere. We had an elite defense last year, what was Heupel supposed to do, see the future (this year) and fire him? The guy that just fielded one of our best defenses? All camp I kept hearing the defense was way ahead of the offense as well. Heupel is probably just as shocked and disgusted as the fans. You can't fire him at this point in the season because you are still fighting for a playoff spot and atleast you know what to expect from Banks compred to an unknown with whoever would take over. You let it play out and adjust in the offseason. I've seen a lot of growth with Heupel these last few years. He completely revamped the offense this year. When he first got here he couldn't run clock to save his life and it cost us games but he has since adjusted. I feel like he will get us a championship at some point, just gotta be patient. He has a monster recruiting class coming in and will find the right guy for the defensive side of the ball.
I don't want him fired right now. I do, however, want him out of the press box and coaching from the sideline.

You do realize that is not on him....this is not like the old days.
He is definitely responsible for bringing in talent. It is a lot to manage but he is responsible for everything good and bad. He either has to move the money to bring in elite talent or be be able to identify talent better. Sort of like Indiana has done We have way too many misses at the position.

Everything that happens to his team is on him both positive and negative.

Tony Romo is calling the Cowboys game and just said, "I don't know if anyone thought we were going to have this good of a running game," talking about the Cowboys. And then everyone pretended like he didn't just say it. I don't care. I just think it's funny.

Let’s take a quick look at our secondary:
Colton Hood rated as a 3* recruit and 3* transfer. He had one start on that vaunted Colorado defense.

Ty Redmond 3* true freshman

Jalen Mcmurray low rated 3* transfer from temple 2* high school recruit. He was not a stud at Temple.

Andre Turrentine: low four star high school recruit and 3* transfer that never saw the field at ohio state and was passed over by other recruits

Boo Carter: By far our highest rated secondary player but he has a horrible attitude and looks like he is giving half effort most of the time.

Edrees Farooq: mid 3* safety, first year starting

We need to put some money into our back end on defense. This secondary is a liability and couple that with the slight regression along the defensive line and this is the defense that you get.

I’m ok with moving on from Banks and getting a new voice/ideas in that room. Up until now, the complaints hadn’t matched what he had accomplished. Go Vols and figure it out enough to beat Ok, Florida, and Vandy. Especially Vandy, we can’t lose to those idiots.
I’m done giving any benefit of the doubt on DB recruiting. That ship has sailed here.

- They can identify talent
- They are recruiting to a profile
- They will develop them here
- That kid is underrated

I’m not listening to any of that ^, any more.

Stop stacking recruiting classes with middling 3 Stars at Safety.
It’s led us to where we are - a roster full of middling 3 Stars at Safety.

And yes, yes, yes… there are some 3 Stars that hit big every year - none of them are here playing Safety.

Recruiting must get better there, because there is absolutely zero reason to believe the Coaching will.

My prediction, Kiffin will stay where he is and become the 2nd-highest paid coach in the SEC. I don't think there's anything compelling him to leave. I think he has better resources where he is than any job that could potentially open. But I have been wrong before. Just reading the tea leaves.
