We will have to average 50-60 PPG against OU, UF and VU

we are in a boat race with our own defense. like a man being chased by a grizzly except the grizzly is our defense lying on their backs all over the field like a bunch of rugs.

Heupel is supposed to be offensive Jesus, well we are going to need the second coming to survive the final 3 SEC games if we want to finish 10-2.
We should probably just sit those games out

With this defense we’ll be fortunate to win one of the three games. Playing at home against OU and Vandy might be our only saving grace.

I once thought we would definitely win out. Now I see no possible way. I get a sinking feeling OU will beat us like a drum. Their defense is legit and we won’t be able to stop Mateer.
Oklahoma has not scored over 26 points in an FBS game this year, so no they are not an offensive machine. Being at home gives us an advantage, and we certainly can outscore them.

Come on man. Be so serious. At least do a little research before saying these things.

Oklahoma is not who we thought they were at the beginning of the season. Mateer is averaging barely 200 yards and less than a touchdown per game since his surgery. Oklahoma averages less than 20 points per game in that span.

Florida hasn't scored more than 30 points since week 1 against Long Island University lol

Vandy averages 24 points per game in conference play.

I just don't think any of these teams can keep up with our offense and the way they're clicking right now. They're going to score points sure. I just know we're going to score more. Our defense just needs to make just enough plays to give us a cushion in these games. Calling these games a loss is silly.
my full expectation is that Tennessee wins out. there's no good excuse not to. but they still have to score 50 to do it. we just gave up 35 points to one of the worst teams, maybe THE worst team in the SEC.

It absolutely is.
Banks is the DC.

We had Bishop and Lewis at RB returning and went for Star Thomas anyway.

We didn’t get any WRs because we intentionally wanted those guys to start and play extensively.

Problem is, our defense is on the field longer and we needed more starter bodies at safety and DT. Having Turrentine and Farooq x 2 is better than having them as they are. Neither one is that good, but then we compound that, by not getting more players at least at their level.

That’s a fact! So to YOUR point. If you’re the DC- how could you not see that?

We need 2 more older guys form the portal and either Combay, Moa, or Wyatt to play with Farooq. We just have Farooq coming back.
So are we going to make the same mistake two years in a row?
once money becomes involved it's no way Banks can make these decisions on his own. He can possibly make requests but he isn't making the decisions on how to spend the money

Heupel is not serious about being a really good team, he puts up with that terrible so called defense. If he doesn't fire Banks, he just is not serious.
I tend to agree. Last year was more of a flash in the pan with a dominant defensive end and a bend, but do not break defense.

This year, the defense couldn’t stop a creek with a bulldozer

At no point have we given up 40 points or more in regulation this season. But for the reason of the year you believe we will give up between 49 to 59 points?

Very reasonable take

Oklahoma going to spank us sat. Our defense is out of shape. We looked horrible. Hope our back up qb is ready to see some action. I'm just glad we don't have to play Texas AM. That program is rocking.
aTm gave up 42 to Arkansas

I don't see why criticism of the defense is a sign of being completely negative. Its just a fact of this team that has to be accepted at this point. I've seen the same people complement the offense at the same time.

This team has to rely on their offense more this year unlike when last year they relied on a stout defense with a not so good offense outside of the running game.

There's an awful lot of doom and gloom around here after an SEC victory on the road. Comon people. Hey, it could be worse. You could be an LSU fan right now.

Our defense has definitely earned tons of criticism. But the "this is Sunseri level bad" takes are just brain rot people who don't actually watch or haven't been fans long enough to remember Sunseri's actual defense here.

What gets me is the fact people are somehow stunned and shocked that our defense forces turnovers and leads the nation in defensive touchdowns. Like it ain't all bad folks.

No,it's nowhere near as bad as Sunseris defense. This team would have lost a couple more games with Sunseri. It's just a down year on defense for this team. If Aguilar can look as good as he did against Kentucky, this team might have a possibility of winning out. Its hard to tell at this point.

Defenses will do better when the offense is allowing them to rest. Our offense scores so quickly that at times the defense has no rest - can be the same effect as a 3 and out.

We were clicking in the first quarter - scoring both offensively and defensively. But that ultimately ends up with our defense being out on the field a very long time and that probably contributed to that long 8 plus minute drive.

Teams that score a lot and score quickly, typically will be scored upon.
If the defense weren’t allowing 99 yard drives, they would get some rest too.

I will go out on a limb and say if our offense can put up 42-45 points each of our remaining 4 games, we finish 10-2. The good news is we are at home for 3 of the 4 games.

This is where I hope Heupel goes balls to wall the finish the season on offense. We are at home and things are getting tight. Just unleash Aguilar finally and let it go.

This is a good point. Like others, im not thrilled about the defense, but our opposition is likely getting more possessions this year due to our quick scoring. You just have to stay explosive and score more. It’s not typical, but Chip Kelly made a living off of this style of play at Oregon.

Also a great point. This is the part that’s the most concerning. If the other team has more possessions they’re gonna score more, but the long drives when you’ve got someone backed up into their own end zone is very frustrating. Especially when you’ve got a team in 2nd and 19 or 3rd and 13 and allow them to convert.
