Boo!!! Carter

Dude got beat on a TD pass. It happens to all defensive backs at some point. If not for the pre-season issues, people wouldn't be so quick to throw him under the bus.
Maybe, but there WERE preseason issues, serious enough that his own teammates were ready to give him the boot.

Sadly he’d probably look much better under Deion. Colorado is why Hood is as good as he is, it’s not Martinez.
I hear that quite often but in reality Martinez has had a 3rd team all American (2nd preseason) in McCoy. He got Ricky Gibson ready to go all last season. Ty Redmond has taken his lumps but I expect all this experience to translate into a very solid CB2 next year. By no means am I a Willie fan but you got to be realistic, I think Banks is to blame. Without Coach Gardners development of our defensive line in a whole since he had been here our defense especially in the back end are giving way to much depth in zone coverage. That’s scheme not a single position coach

Get your ass to Boulder Colorado and play for that loser program, you have no heart, no desire, no respect for the power T. Give me anyone else. That is all.

Death, taxes, Tennessee beats Kentucky.

Seriously, there’s no place for him on the field. All the talent in the world but doesn’t give a crap, mentally checked out, doesn’t want to be there. It’s a disgrace to watch that as a fan.
I think Prime Time retires due to health concerns.

My opinion is he needs to be kicked off the team immediately. Guy’s an obvious cancer that looks like he’d rather be doing anything else than playing football for Tennessee.

Boo plays with no effort at all.. Compare last year Boo to this year Boo. Not even close. Sanders might not even be at Colorado next year and other coaches will look at Boo film this year and see no effort, no heart and really hasn't made any plays at all this year. They would take him but I doubt he is going to get the money he thinks he is worth.

My advice for Boo is after the season stay where you are but get dedicated getting your body right and work on your craft and show some effort and grow the F up and show some maturity. He has been running all his life from school to school to school and this will get him no where. He has talent but needs to show more effort and heart and dedication and be a good teammate too especially for the younger guys coming in next year.

He fair caught a punt last night that he could have made good yardage on but NO
There've been a whole of fair catches for him this year, and yet they keep putting him out there, so I assumed those were coaches' decisions. It'd be nice to hear if that's the fact.

I'm comfortable criticizing players, especially in the NIL era but don't know enough about the Boo situation to hope for him being shown the door. Hes for sure been inconsistent. With his off season antics, i imagine he'll come into the next off-season with a nico mentality....demand a boat load of money with not enough results to justify it.

Negative. I watched him jog in the Arkansas game on a 3/13 play and he literally escorted the receiver across the entire field to the other sideline. He spectates so much that he needs to buy a ticket.

Kamal Hadden went from a nobody to a draft pick.
Jermod McCoy is projected to be the top CB taken in the draft.
Colton Hood has gone from a backup to a projected top 3 pick (R1 in some mocks).
Rickey Gibson was projected to be a top 3 round pick before getting hurt in game 1.

3 of those 4 were 3* recruits. The other (Gibson) was a 3* when he committed, but got a late bump to low 4*.

That’s just in the last couple years.

Martinez absolutely develops CBs.
Hadden possibly- worth noting he came from Juco.
Hood- cane in from Colorado and has been great from day 1. Likely nothing to do with Martinez.
Gibson- impactful from day 1, even as a freshmen. Safe to say he’s just an athletic standout and would’ve likely been great anywhere.

Maybe Martinez deserves more credit than I’m willing to give. We will never know I suppose. With the exception of the standouts (likely to be great anywhere) I feel Martinez hasn’t set himself apart here. Our secondary has been suspect for years, with the exception of the standout athletes you mention which likely could’ve done it anywhere given the chance. When the backups come in and are lost, it shows you we may not be developing the players that don’t already come born with it.

Please see our defensive/offensive line. That’s when you know coaches are getting it done. You’re gonna have injuries and you can’t be at a place where the seasons over when a 1 gets hurt.

You do know Willie Martinez was Tim Banks’ position coach in college and the reason he even came to Tennessee, right? Willie’s thumbprint is all over this defense. The pass defense has sucked 8/9 years that Willie has coached here. That’s across different head coaches, different coordinators, and different rosters. Way too large of a sample size to simply be a coincidence.
