It should NOT be the fan bases excuse to the poor performance of this Tennessee defense. While it has a cause and effect, it is in NO WAY contributed to the poor tackling, misalignments, bad angles, and the countless other fundamentals flaws your eyes see each weekend. It is steadily getting worse. Our once consistent pass rush has been reduced to an occasional threat. Without their presence, the back seven is toast. I have NO DOUBT, that staff changes have to be made. ANY SEC team recruiting against UT is going to lure talent away unless we overpay for EVERY defensive prospect. "Sleepy" Banks and his putrid effort at recruiting, does not get a pass from me for his Broyles Award candidacy in the past. Seeing one of the worst teams in our conference throw up over 400 yards offense and over 30 points is Sal Sunseri level of ineptness. Just like Swiss Cheese Sal, time for 3rd and Banks to get a new zip code. Lastly, Does ANYBODY think this defense will stop Oklahoma and/or Florida along with Vandy?

A few bad apples can spoil the bunch, and right now there are a few players in that secondary that need to be benched because of piss poor effort and lack of physicality. Coaches have got to send a strong message that this isn’t going to be tolerated.
Agree. I rather lose playing a younger guy w/ inexperience than one of the starters who is always outbid position or not giving 100%. I won’t repeat my comments from the game thread, but one of the player’s had a lackadaisical approach.

Unfortunately they’re still missing their two starting CBs so they have an availability issue.
(Also their fault because they didn’t get anyone from the portal)

Hard to send the necessary message when you need them out there.

This is a coaching problem and not a player problem. We can blame it on a lot of things, but it all starts with staff and the coddling they give the coaching staff for Piss Poor Performance. Yet some believe it is the players and it is not.
CFP with this defense will be an embarrassment.

If you can’t count on them to do their job, you don’t need them out there. I’d rather have a kid chomping at the bit to give his all for Tennessee than seeing guys mail it in.

Must be why they keep trotting Boo out there. Sad that he just doesn't care to even attempt to earn what he's being paid. Speaks to character and pride.

This is not an excuse at all, bc at this point of the season we’ve regressed defensively IMO. We have a few bright spots that show we are good at forcing turnovers and we actually have gotten stops coming out of halftime the past couple of weeks. I think it is entirely possible that we don’t hit in practice at all, due to the fact that we are so thin in the secondary, and at wide receiver. I think we’re seeing the inconsistency that goes along with that

Yes and No. Depends on the coach and he may not be teaching proper techniques. What's more, the young kid has 2 or 4 growth spurts before 20 yrs old. Then you have mom on the sideline stating he was tackled to hard. The only thing you determine football in Pee Wee football is whether you are going to stick with it or not in your life. The taste for it and the love of the game.
Not until you are in 7-8 grades do you want try to make it too college.
Bishop is a great example of this and how he was overlooked by colleges I do not know. Committed to Costal Carolina and decided to walk on at Tennessee.

Farooq made a huge play last night but he’s whiffed on a ton of tackles this season.
It is difficult to make tackles on a moving target with your head looking straight down at the ground. The other tackling worry is trying to tackle withntheir hands rather than thrusting the shoulders into the gut of the runners.
