My only issue is that teams that constantly have to be bailed out by the offense rarely succeed in the long term. And I think that’s who we are right now
1. blocks. our DL cannot get off blocks, and they dont win the LoS consistently. Our edge presence was almost non existent.

2. safety. run defense, pass help, and red zone play. They're non existent. This is the worst group of S ive seen on the hill.

Their saving grace is safety blitz

3. linebackers. thought they were loke bright spot. Telander finally played a team he can match skill sets with. Team will get an infusion of talent next yesr.

Perlotte isna slingshot.

I say 9-3 is best we can hope for and the Citrus Bowl but like you say we have a very good team!!
Yes I believe 9-3 is where we’re at ! Again like I predicted after a Kentucky blow out now you all forget how our biggest rival beat the snuff out of us and now we are going to the playoffs and winning it all? Personally I see what this expanded playoff scenario has done to college football and I don’t like it! We are no different than the NFL kneeling jerks! No longer is beating your rivals that important now it’s the playoff or bust? Well all enjoy this week and the chest pumping because other than NM we still have 3 tough games one of them in the swamp where it’s hard to win no matter what! If we do run the table then I will be the first to say I was wrong, but the next three sec teams are a lot better than Kentucky so please enjoy your victory dances this week !

In baseball terms we seem like a HR dependent team that doesn’t have pitching and defense and when the HRs end in the playoffs……

Which is sad considering we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against UGA and looked like a band of misfits that haven’t practiced all year against a very beatable, average bama team. At this point the defense is what it is and I look for more of the same with mistakes and awful play calling with the few games we have left. I doubt anyone feels too confident on how this ends.

With all do respect.... no it’s not ok. This program needs to get over the hump, and quit settling for “a ok team”.
I agree. By and large, we have national championship aspirations and expectations. I don't expect to be in the thick of the hunt every single year, but 4 out of every 5 years with the ability to beat top 10 teams consistently, home and away? Absolutely.

And for those that say, "Would you rather go back to the Dooley/Jones/Pruitt years," let me put it this way - It's like an adult kid who has been given every opportunity and resource to be successful at the highest level, but has no drive or ambition, and their parent says "he may be unemployed or failing in school, but at least he's not out there doing drugs and committing crimes." If that's your litmus test for this program, I don't know what to tell you.

Let’s be real. Do you really see them winning out?? I don’t.
UT is as good as the rest of the teams on the schedule, and IMO as good as UGA. The Vols are not as bad as they looked against Alabama either. That was just a terrible game (give Alabama credit).

So yes, the Vols could do it. Why would anyone think they can't?

We are exactly where everyone thought we would be record wise, and in the playoffs if we win out AND Bama is the only team that has "outclassed us"

This reads like what was being said prior to Fulmer being fired.

Are u new here?

Be grateful for winning football that is very competitive each week.

We were spoiled with success from the Fulmer tenure and then had a temper tantrum that left UT Football wandering the desert for almost 20 years.

I never wish to live that again

UT Athletics is currently living its best life, maybe ever.

I would say go be miserable elsewhere but this is a message board.

Just consider keeping your distance from guns and sharp objects, lol

I don’t get how this is acceptable because some had predetermined we’d lose a few games.
"Acceptable" is relative.

We aren't going to go undefeated every year, and in reality hardly anybody will in the new paradigm of college football

The goals should obviously be to win every game, but winning the SEC and playing for a national title in the playoffs are clearly the top goals

Expectations DO matter when we knew this year would be a little bit of a rebuilding year where we lost Nico, uncertainty about QB, then the huge injury/grad/transfer losses on defense.

People including "experts" all could see that we were more talented than every team on our schedule except for UGA, Bama and Oklahoma (with Florida being a wildcard due to their situation, talent but no coaching)

so predicting a 10-2 or 9-3 season was a likely accurate prediction (not the morons on here who still think we will go 7-5)

I think because we played UGA better than expected, and the defensive struggles due to the injuries and issues, some are just harping on the things that need to improve (which is fine up to a point)

I am a realist who knows that UT is once again in the playoffs at 10-2, and that one game at a time matters

I also know that despite some frustrating or disappointing things with this team, we are 6-2 and all that matters is winning the games.

I don't care if our defense gives up 500 meaningless yards or lets an average team get to 30 points, if we are winning the game especially by 3-4 TDs.

Wins are all that matters, everything else comes with that

To be fair, the defense bailed us out against Miss State and the offense is what killed our shot at Bama. The D isn’t good but they’ve had moments. It’s big play or big bust for our defense.
