McCoy isn't coming back...thats a pipe dream.

I share in your gratitude however...very thankful that being bowl eligible is never in doubt these days.

I recall years not very long ago where we had to win against Vandy to go bowling.
And worse, we didn’t and stayed at home.

I remember not too long ago when that wasn’t a foregone conclusion anymore. Thankful for Coach Heup and where he’s brought our program. Looking forward to making a playoff push again this year. Get McCoy back and anything could happen.
Anything can’t happen. Our defense has more holes than a Saturday night at the gentlemen’s club. Getting McCoy back would be great but the fact would still remain our defense struggles everywhere at times.

We realistically have no chance against teams if they can hold us under 30.

The Playoffs made me not care for the bowl system anymore. It’s Playoffs or bust.

Bowls = NIT
Bowls=NIL? IMHO the playoffs = greed and greed=turning collegiate sports into extreme cupidity and that = the destruction of team unity and sportsmanship! I am fairly new on this board but I have watched Tennessee football since the 80s and I find myself less interested in collegiate sports every year because all I hear about is $$$ and who can play their players the most! Maybe I should read more books and watch less sports??!

I do agree about NIL. I hate NIL, due to the fact there’s no team loyalty. But it’s the world we live in.

No, he meant Bowls=NIT. It’s a basketball analogy. The CFP is the Big Dance/NCAA Tournament. The bowls are the secondary event nobody cares about.

I agree with him. With the expansion of the CFP and mass player opt-outs, the bowls mean nothing to me as a fan, any more.

This! With the expansion to 12 teams, the playoffs swallowed up all the major bowls that matter. Now, the remaining bowls are just glorified spring games because most of your veterans will opt out of playing in them anyway. They're a good way to get a glimpse of the young guys on the team, but thats about it.
