Dude. They’re fast….we’re not.
We’ve gotten nobody off the field this year when last year we were lights out on defense. The coaches didn’t forget how to coach over the offseason.
I’m not sure who you see on our side that I don’t because there are 4 difference makers standing on the sidelines. If those guys were playing we’d be in the sets you’d like to see. Clearly we’ve decided that we’re not giving them quick scores. We’re going to make them work for it. Even if it makes the underneath an easier pick up.


Like I said, there’s a detailed breakdown on the sec network on what we’re doing and why.

So you want the bad tacklers, who also aren’t terribly fast to get beat deep instead of missing the tackle closer to the line of scrimmage?

We are better at coverage than tackling. Let's force them to complete a pass instead of automatically giving them 10 yds on a dump off (more when we miss tackle)

I disagree
I don’t think we can cover Baylor high school receivers with a blanket.

Probably why we disagree on this.

We’re so beat up that any other Tennessee coach in my lifetime would have 4-5 loses right now.

The fact that we’re a missed FG from 1 loss is insane.

We're getting to the QB...

We're fast enough

We are literally neutering the only elite area on defense by allowing the QB to get an auto 10 yards by releasing ball within a second...

Again, Im not saying press. But play ~6-7 yards off on third and long. Not double that.... If you want to play 8 off on Law, sure. But the 4th and 5th receiver, that's nuts..

That’s the strategy.
Try to get after the QB and force turnovers/mistakes and keep everything in front of us.

We cant get after QB if he can dump it off within 1 sec...

We are giving the 5th guy on KY the same (or more) cushion that we gave Ryan Williams...
