Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Texas and LSU very much still alive, but sure. Let's say you're right.

Let's even take Mizzou out.

Ole Miss: one loss and no hard games left. They are most likely in.

TAMU: No losses and two moderately difficult games. Reasonably say they split those, and they are in.

Bama: Sits at one loss, holds head to head over us.

Georgia: Sits at one loss, holds head to head over us.

That's it. There's your 4 SEC teams in the playoff. Completely discounting Mizzou, Texas, and LSU (which you obviously can't. They are having the same conversation we are).
Texas, LSU, and Mizzou can’t really get in based on who they play. LSU still has Bama and A&M. Mizzou still has A&M. Texas has UGA and A&M. Texas has 2 total losses.

Sure, we might be the 5th team, but it’s not automatic that just 4 get in or another surprise loss happens. This isn’t difficult.

I’m not going to argue with all yall because as I said it’s not a valid argument you are presenting. It’s more likely the SEC gets five teams than not because ND, G5, Big 10 (three), and Big 12 (one) and ACC (one) are the most likely scenarios. Leaving 5 remaining teams. I’ll even give you Bama, UGA, Ole Miss, and A&M. If we beat OU and Vandy they’re out. UGA beats Texas, they’re out. LSU in that scenario loses to AM or Bama. Missouri in that scenario loses to AM or Vandy. We are the 5th team. If we win the next two weeks we’ll be around 13-14 in initial cfp rankings with three weeks of wins and ranking shake up to go.

It’s simply not a valid argument to say 10-2 and we’re not in. Even the Allstate cfp predictor gives us like a 96% chance at 10-2.
Right now, the ACC would probably have two teams in. GA Tech and Miami. But anything can happen on any given Saturday, so we'll see how the season plays out.

GA tech still plays UGA so once again if they’re good enough to keep winning and get in then Georgia might drop out. There are so many teams that still play each other. 10-2 will get in. Now I could understand an argument that we won’t get to 10-2 but not that it won’t make the playoff.

They could lose to Georgia and still make it in with one loss.

Georgia could lose to GA Tech and have two losses and still be above us. GA Tech wouldn't count as a conference loss, and UGA has us in head-to-head.
