President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Point being tariffs have caused prices to rise.

Enough of your juvenile suggestions.

Ehhhh, beef imports are fairly miniscule in the US market. Brazil iirc is our biggest import source and it accounts for less than 2% of US beef supply typically. Meanwhile, prices are up about 10%.

Frankly, we have a pretty unprecedented cattle shortage right now and that's what's killing the consumer on beef prices.

Now, what you *could* argue (the data may be a chore to collect) is that we are having to rely on imported beef more than usual due to the shortage, and that's could lead to higher prices since almost every country exporting beef to us is being Trumped in the butt.

Tl;dr you may be able to attribute the beef prices to tarriffs down the road (and not too far down it) but we aren't quite seeing it yet.

@volfanhill will likely have more insight than I will since I'm out of the game as far as food imports go.

Nothing??
Very very minimal. And Trump is getting bitched at by American cattle ranchers for removing the barriers to Argentina's beef. Mexico's needs to be limited due to parasites. American cattle herds are extraordinarily small due to drought over several years. Two years before this is fixed. Wouldn't matter who was in office. Why those prices were exploding under Biden. Why steak restaurants are crushing it right now.

I am in agreement with you and Volfanhil. And I have allowed this discussion to be about beef, but my response was disagreeing with the claim tariffs have no effect on inflation . No doubt replacement heifers have more effect on ground beef than tariffs

Did you bother to verify your claim or are you hoping everyone takes your word for it?

Getting the story straight it was renovations to the Whitehouse infrastructure approved by congress under the BUSH administration.
Basketball Court: President Barack Obama had the White House tennis court converted into a full-sized basketball court in 2009, and he was responsible for adding the basketball goals and lines. While a smaller, half-court basketball court existed since 1991, the 2009 project created the full-court playable space that is used today.

Putting Green: President Bill Clinton moved the White House putting green to its current location on the South Lawn in 1995.

Swimming Pool:
The swimming pools at the White House have been built or commissioned by different presidents. The original indoor pool was built in 1933 for President Franklin D. Roosevelt, funded by private donations raised by the New York Daily News https://gohlkepروش.com/the-history-of-pools-at-the-white-house/, and designed by Lorenzo Simmons Winslow and Douglas H. Gillette. The current outdoor pool was installed in 1975 by President Gerald R. Ford, also funded by private donations.

Anita McBride? President McBrides wife?
AI mistake but with some simple investigation, it makes since. She served on three administration staffs.

McBride is an American academic and former government official who served in the White House under three presidential administrations, including as Chief of Staff to the First Lady of the United States under Laura Bush from 2005 to 2009.

At Walmart today 73% hamburger is $8.89/lb.
So I think inflation is starting to crank up pretty good. Who was it that promised to lower groceries on day one?

WalMart Thanksgiving Baskets:

The offer aims to deliver a full Thanksgiving dinner for ten people for under $40, a price that undercuts the 2024 national average for a traditional Thanksgiving meal—according to the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), last year, a classic Thanksgiving meal for ten cost around $58

Walmart’s Thanksgiving meal returns—serving 10 for under $40

The main driver in the increase in the price of beef is directly related to the screwworm outbreak in Mexico where the US has closed the port to imports for safety concerns.

Screwworm Case Detected Less Than 70 Miles From U.S.-Mexico Border

The flesh-eating parasite was detected in northern Mexico. It is the northernmost case of the livestock infection, which was eradicated from the United States in the 1960s.

................

Earlier this year, after the detection of cases in the Mexican states of Oaxaca and Veracruz, the U.S.D.A. closed southern ports of entry to livestock trade. In July, Ms. Sheinbaum said that the decision to halt cattle imports was “exaggerated,” after the detection of the single case in Veracruz. American ports remain closed to Mexican imports of cattle, bison and horses.

“The important thing here is that there was an agreement with the U.S. government: that the decision to open or close the border would not be discretionary, but would be based on a series of technical indicators,” Ms. Sheinbaum said on Monday. The team from U.S.D.A. that was recently in Mexico will give their ruling in a few days, she said.

The White House stated in July 2025 that the idea of a large ballroom has been desired for "at least 150 years," suggesting a long-standing interest across many administrations, though Trump is the one actively building it now.
Like the wall…many said they were going to do it, but only became a problem when Trump took action.

You posted more than once that Obama spent 4 million on basketball court. I pointed out you lied. .

Prove it wrong.

Edit….he did not spend his own money, he used taxpayer money for his renovations.

FYI…. Side note: Trump is donating his pay back to the government largely going to White HOuse upkeep.
