Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

James Franklin is the most overrated coach in College football ... still.

I’m a seafood junky. If it comes from the sea I’ll most likely eat it. I got some baaaad oysters several years back and it felt like I was going to die for a couple days, just started eating them again this summer.

Nothing much better than some blackened grouper that you can watch come straight from the boat and cut right in front of you. Grouper is the bomb, it’s more like a piece of meat than fish. Combine that with some peel and eat fresh gulf shrimp and some smoked Amberjack fish dip with some saltines and you’re living the culinary dream!

I'm in Johnson City tonight. Drove over from Chapel Hill, via Banner Elk. Some of 40 evidently still washed out or getting worked on so GPS took me up a mountain, winding roads, blind turns.. SCARY for a Florida driver.

But got some nice pics...

I'm sure there were a lot of pissed off locals behind you on your drive at 1/2 the speed limit.

Mountain roads have a vehicular death rate 100 times greater than FL roads. I suggest you get out now, go back to FL and never look back.

I’m 15 mins from Johnson City and am there pretty often.

I saw David at the Royal Albert last October. I can die happy now.

Wow.

What an amazing place to see Dave and co. Adele made an incredible live recording there as well as all the other Brits over the decades. I dont think she is pretty, but from a strictly musical sense her live recording from there is amazing. Such a powerful and pure voice. To see Gilmour in that closed in space with his perfect tone and timing...and pretty dang good voice too had to be great. Glad you got to see that bud. Im gonna see if they made a recording of it?

Lolololol. Actually cackled man

Ha, I pulled off twice to let them by.

Good job LG. I mean that. Dont be a dikweed on the road, people have places to be and the folks that live up there drive twice or 3 times as fast as you on those roads when they dont think cops are present. Thats not an exaggeration. When you drive the same curvy mountain roads all the time, you know them like your own driveway. Good job not holding up the locals

Excellent mentality. If you drive the blue ridge parkway, do that even harder.

Exactly my thought. Hate it when tourists gum up the works in Orlando (which as you can imagine is ALL the time) so I was happy to let a couple of seemingly anxious folks go on by.

This was only your second biggest win of the day, the first was getting out of Chapel Hill. That place is 🤮.
After I write my boy’s tuition check, it is 🤮🤮.

Respect bud. I usually drive 7 to 10 over on highways and interstates which these days means I have to get over a lot to let people pass. If someone comes up behind you in the passing lane, and you don't get out of their way then you are the dbag in that situation. You never know what type of emergency someone else is dealing with etc. Courteous drivers always get respect from me.

Also...watching Vtech at 2-5 just take a 7pt lead in the 4th qtr over 5-2 Cal. A new to me Modelo commercial just came on that was all flarda gator fans doing that stupid chomp thing with their arms. Gross. Never drinking a Modelo based simply on that ad...

Normal people should never have to see flarda fans or the swamp unless they make a poor decision and choose to. Springing that crap on unsuspecting football fans is bullcrap. I am honestly really starting to hate UGA as much as flarda these days too. Never really cared about them growing up because we beat them way more than we lost. They are a real PITA these days and their fans are pretty much unbearable.

VT just got robbed SO BAD MAN. SO BAD. Up by 7 and sacked Cals QB back to the 13yd line on a 3rd and goal from the 5. Clean tackle with helmet in QBs chest.

The refs called personal foul for roughing the passer and gave Cal instead 1st and goal from the 5...should have been 4th and goal from the 13. Cal scores next play to tie the game up. Even the announcers said repeatedly that it was a terrible call. So bad.

Now VT has the ball at their own 35 with 2 timeouts left after this 2min TV timeout. Hopefilly they can get in FG range and win this game anyway despite being screwed so badly

Are there any former military in this thread, I've got a couple of questions about a family friend we are trying to help. My brother's best friend growing up. In speaking with him recently we think he's having some difficulties in adjusting to what comes next.

He's former Special Forces and has been bouncing around conflict zones as a contact worker for a while. We're trying to reach out to a couple of guys he used to work with for help and guidance.

Based on a recent (last couple of weeks) conversation my brother had with him, he is afraid he might be about to put himself into an impossible situation purposefully. Any insight or advice you might have is greatly appreciated.
