Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Elander is a more traditional baseball guy. I've been thinking the last couple days and I think you were right in saying that TV was the spark we needed, but his style is probably more suited for the pro brand of baseball, power pitching and hitting jacks. That was fine for the Vols teams TV has had the past few seasons but it it is probably more likely we have teams in the future that can't Strike out 15 and hit 5 homers every game.
I wish TV the best. Maybe he will a spark for the Giants.
If you look at the outpour of tweets, there are probably as many pro elander tweets from players as there were thankful for Tony tweets.

Seems like everybody loves elander and views him as a leader.

I’d expect a ton of jacks still.

TV built his teams like pro teams. Hit bombs, power arms out of the pen, starters that command the zone. I would guess Elander would follow suit. But def still tons of bombs.

I'm just stating my opinion, which is worth as much as anyone else's, but I really can't see it being Elander. Elander is Tony's guy and I think Danny White wants to hire his own guy.

I am not going to let the coaching search bother me. My emotions want Elander, but I think I will be fine with whoever DW hires. I really want a guy who has fire and bring energy and passion that can recruit his tail off.

I think this is hands down the best opening in the sport so we will get who we want.

If Elander wants the job he’s gonna need to show out in interviews, which is why I think it was smart of DW to put Frank in charge and not put more on Elander’s plate so he can prepare and focus on his candidacy. He’s gonna have some aggressive competition (see Scnhall, Kevin).

I wonder what this place will be like when another school goes after Heupel in the off season?
I can see into the future just as well as you can. There will not be an open job in the country that's a better job than Heupel has already. I think fans fail to appreciate just how good we have it. We have a top 5 football program in terms of the resources we are investing.

I didn't say he was going to leave, I was asking what the response would be on here if another school went after him.

Yuge. That’s a name right there.

In the minority here but I trust DW to hire a great candidate.
It's a type of name that becomes interested after TV built the program. Interesting tidbits: Schnall is 48 years old, a Coastal Carolina alum, and won a title in 2016 as an assistant. He was at UCF as recruiting coordinator for the two years before that and may have overlapped with DW starting in 2015. He was the runner-up this year in his first season as manager. Coastal had 5 guys drafted this year, and one at the end of the first round. There have been insinuations that he was entrenched unless a huge job interested him.

Defense lost more than just those 4 and we play 2 deep more on that side so depth pieces are big losses.

Will Brooks - graduated
Jermod McCoy - injury in spring
James Pearce Jr. - drafted
Jalen Smith - transfer
Rickey Gibson - injury after 1 game
Keenan Pili - graduated
Christian Charles - transfer
Kalib Perry - transfer
Omari Thomas - drafted
Jackobe Thomas - transfer
Christian Harrison - transfer
Omarr Norman-Lott - drafted

Those were all guys that played last season a ton and racked up plenty of stats for us.
damn we let that many transfer acting like we were "good" without them??? Guess they got the last laugh because our defense is ass... really coulda used Jackobe this season...

You’re definitely not in the minority. The minority is that vocal group saying DW has to go or at least sucks. They’re just super vocal and loud. Most of us trust DW.
