I would thank him for making Tennessee baseball great again. Thank him for everything he's done outside of the game for fans in this state. Thank him for being a huge supporter of the other sports on campus. There are many other things I could thank him for, But the main thing is... He was One of Us!!! Forever grateful to him. Good luck in MLB Tony V. Vol Nation loves you!!! PS this post is not about DW

Thank you Tony for a lot of fun and giving us a great team to cheer for. Thank you also for being a great leader and ambassador for the state and university. Go win yourself a World Series my friend.

I would thank him not just for the great success and the 2024 CWS title, but for the exciting style and flare in which it was done. We were always a fun team to watch. We had an identity and became something of a villain .... that was fun too.

We have lost a lot this week, but we will always have the CWS title and some great memories. Nothing can take that away.

When it comes to MLB, I have always just been a Braves fan, even well before 1991, and that won't change .... but I wish Tony V nothing but the best.

Thanks for restoring my passion and love for baseball. A special THANKS for bringing a NC to Rocky Top, giving fans some swagger, and making Vols baseball a force to be reckoned with….
Go crush it with the Giants! LNS just won’t be the same without #22!

PS. Just read article on his informal presser with some local media….And yes, Coach Vitello is a definitely a VFL! Leaving for a pro job allows players and coaches to keep that distinction! I hope he’s back on Rocky Top one day.

Back in 1989, I remember going to my first Tennessee baseball game after finishing a class. The old stadium was barely fit for purpose: buildings and stands composed of white cement blocks highlighted with orange on the sides. The new coach was Mark Connor. I don't think we even had 200 people there. Later that year, Tennessee Tech showed up in force and easily had more fans in the stadium.

Coach Delmonico showed us what was possible in the 1990s.

Coach Vitello made that possibility reality.

Can't thank you enough for being essential in restoring Neyland/Summitt/Bussard-level expectations to our university's athletic endeavors.
