Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

For those who have never been to SF and don’t know what it’s actually like there. Go watch Peter Santenello’s video on YT about the city. Then ask yourself if you’d want to live there.

ive been there several times in a truck making deliveries or getting loaded. But to live there no thanks. Its a visit and get the heck out kind of place.

why does everyone think Elander is head coach material? A good assistant coach does not a head coach make. Im not saying he want be good at the job. Im just curious why it has to be him or bust.

I can only speak for myself. He’s been the associate HC for a time. Tony might have been the closer but Josh has led the charge in recruiting. When CTV had to miss, Josh was in charge. I’m not gonna lie. We are familiar with he and Frank, maybe we don’t have to over turn the cart here. Maybe others will say otherwise.

That said, it’s not up to me.

GBO!!!

He's had other HC opportunities.
He's had a similar career path to Vitello.
He's a smash recruiter.
He provides continuity.
Current players love him.
Commits love him.
He is a free pass for Danny White. Fans want him and Danny won't take heat if he fails.

He’s literally been named among top candidates for the most recent head
Openings in the SEC and around the country.

If he’s qualified to be viewed as a candidate for programs rebuilding, he’s easily the most qualified to take over a program where the coach left for a promotion and keep program on stable ground and keep the culture / environment on schedule.

Immensely disappointing, and frankly unforgivable. I am not of the opinion that football is all that matters to this school, so how DW handled this entire situation from the relationship to the press conference has significantly impacted my trust in him.

Personally, I believe this is a watershed moment for the university and the “Golden Age” of Tennessee Athletics is over. It’s just very revealing how DW treated the situation and how he manages his department.
4 years and 1 national championship across all sports? That was quick, hardly classifies as an age.

I think we’ll be fine. As good off as with Tony? Hell no. But we’ll be fine. We’ll still make the post season and cws here and there. That’s the decision that was made, probably because the program doesn’t have the natural potential to be ans much of a money maker ans elsewhere, unfortunately.

“You’re either a Vol or you’re not”

Looks like he chose “Not”
“There’s zero reason why Tennessee should take a significant step back moving forward, but White will need to approach this situation with delicate hands — something he didn’t often do in his interactions with Vitello. While Tony aspired to be an MLB manager, his relationship with White most certainly played a part as well, given this move and his past flirtations with Texas A&M the past two summers.”

What an incredibly special statement from Tony. Class act true and through.

Can we stop all the hate now? For both perspectives that seem loudest here? He said it was for selfish reasons. Let’s respect what he’s said, not assume he’s lying, stay behind him and our team, and the university, and look forward to a bright future. Heck, maybe he’ll be back at some point.

That would truly be poetic, if Tony makes the leap and can reach the pinnacle there and win a WS, the next coach here (hopefully elander) does so well they also get given the same opportunity, and Tony comes back home. One can dream.

"First off, just people saying bye and everything like that, I’m not going anywhere. So real estate people quit texting me. I’ll figure out what I want to do. But whether it’s football games, basketball games, supporting these guys in some form or fashion, I’m not going anywhere. I don’t know if this will get me in trouble, but in my mind, a goal is to come back to Tennessee in some capacity. Whether it’s part-time living or some other job way down the road or maybe I go back to Nashville and become a country singer or something like that. But that’s something that stuck out in my head because obviously I feel like this was a great place for me."

"The other thing here — why would you want to be a VFL and why it’s easy to have success? The athletic department. It truly is a sorority and fraternity amongst us as coaches. Danny White’s leadership, not just on the financial end with the buildings and the other things that have gone on here — just (the) direction of hiring the right people at all these specific sports sites on our campus. It goes up to (Chancellor) Donde (Plowman), who is so energetic and the same person you see every day. Of course, (University President) Randy Boyd is probably, I don’t know the other university presidents, but it’s pretty unique. How all that falls in line makes it easier on— where it’s never easy in our league, or now across the nation to have success. They put all of us in a position to have success."

I wish it were up to you. Frankly, I wish it were up to anyone other than White.
