Man those were great times, I was 13 when lofton and JaJuan Smith was hooping. A lot of games you had to listen on 107.7 and I remember that one announcer yelling “Money”! 😂They set the standard for Tn basketball today. I remember practicing fadeaway 3s for hours bc of lofton too. Awesome pick up, especially for the ones who grew up and watched Tn basketball become relevant under pearl.

Great line up! I’m gonna have to learn how to sync…

I watched the game Monday on my ESPN App on my TV and then streamed the Vol Network Audio on my phone and it generally synced up pretty well. It got a bit off after commercial breaks and would go from the audio being ahead to being behind. That also probably was some buffering on my devicies though I have a really fast connection (usually).

MK was as usual great. Lofton wasn't bad, I don't know how much experience he has; I'm guessing not much. I thought he was better than Hamer who has been doing it a while and should be better. I also liked the added spice of Wilkerson, he acted like kind of a hybrid between a play by play and a color commentator. He talked enough to add value but not too much that he overtook either MK or CL.

Did the same thing and had the same experience with syncing and unsyncing.

But I disagree re: Hamer and Lofton. Steve is much better and provides actual insight and some juice. Lofton was milktoast. Very bland and didn’t offer much analysis. Maybe he’ll get better, but I don’t think he has the personality for it. Steve has a gregarious personality, so it’s more natural for him.

Keith and Wilkerson were great as always.

Gotta say I wasn't impressed with Lofton. Hopefully he improves as he gets more use to it!
Agreed. Hopefully with a year or two of experience he'll rid himself of the constant "ya know"' and "um" utterances. One expects to hear that from players, but not often from professional broadcasters. Ron Slay started out roughly on the SEC Network, but now that he's got his confidence, I think he's one of the best, most entertaining broadcasters out there.

That's fair, I chalked most of it up to being new to it. It came acorss sometimes like he forgot he was supposed to talk and then didn't know what to say.

Hamer is ok but he's been doing it for several years now so I grade him more harshely. For example. he said "man" after statements wayyyy too much. I expect the verbal crutches from Lofton, but Hamer has been doing it a while and should be improving on that.

Slay's color commentary is still rough too. Last year he called on a game my buddy texted asking who the annoying guy on color commentary was and said "I hope I never hear him again" and I replied "That's Slay man" and he texted back he immediately felt bad lol.

Agree on Chris. I’m sure he knows basketball but he wasn’t exactly a ball of fire. Maybe it was because of his first time on air because he sounded tentative.

I agree and thought similar hoping he needs a little time to adjust and learn the craft, but if he doesn’t then they will shift him into something else.
