Chris Low essentially said it wasn't a complete surprise to people on the inside. It wasn't just 1 thing, but multiple things. He compared it to Pat Summitt's death, Fulmer's last year and firing, and Majors' being pushed out/fired. He thinks there was a way for this not to happen, but it did. Acknowledges imperfections on all sides, but lifts up Tony being for being 'Tennessee's'.
Says the best result for all would be for DW to do a national search and come back to Elander as the best guy for now.
It was really hard for Vitello to leave and Low doesn't believe that 'in his heart of hearts' he wanted to leave.
It wasn't fair for anyone to try to pit Vols' baseball vs Lady Vols basketball. It wasn't smart for DW to respond or even bring it up in the press conference.
Only issue I have with that is clearly in his heart of hearts he did want to leave bc that’s what he chose.
Doesn’t mean it was an easy decision but that was his decision. And it’s not like it was a snap decision.
