Why does the SEC hate us (and Auburn)?

Every game we get screwed by the refs. It doesn't matter what crew, or whose in the replay booth. We always get bad calls, bad spots, missed calls, made up fantasy calls. We probably have 10 more wins over the last 3-4 years if not for the refs.

And it happens to Auburn too. Just wait til the Iron bowl and I'm sure they'll get screwed more than they did against uga.

Why does this happen?

We are both rivals of bama and georgia. LSU doesn't get as many of these bad calls because they are only a rival to bama. Florida doesn't get as many because they are only a rival to georgia.

The SEC has intentionally kept us and Auburn down because it helps bama and UGA the most.

Why do we have such a better record against teams not named bama and uga? Because the SEC isn't protecting/promoting those teams. Heup would have two SEC titles by now if not for the refs.

Danny White needs to at least consider a move to a conference where we won't be so blatantly cheated in our two biggest games each year. If we went to the ACC, it would probably save their conference too.

If Vandy only has one loss coming into our game, expect the same BS calls so the SEC can get that storyline into the CFP.

While it does appear for this to be true, we really have to be honest and look in the mirror and consider that we hurt ourselves immensely with penalties and, poor field leadership. The overwhelmingly number of penalties against the Vols (this year in particular), are movement related - and those are not biased related at all. Yes, we have had our fair share of PI calls but, every team gets called for those sooner or later.

In order to be a better team, we need more discipline on both sides of the line and exuding the ability to manage to clock and call the correct plays at the correct time. Sorry, but I for one cannot jump on the "woe it is the refs" bandwagon at this time, not when we consider the woes we cause ourselves.

Check back in a a few weeks though, as I might be up there on that wagon!

The SEC has always been corrupt and Alabama has always been the conference darling for whatever reason. Why is the SEC front office in Birmingham?

The calls/no calls seem worse than ever because now we are just at a point where they don't care and it's more blatant than ever. If you think it's bad now, it was worse when there was no replay. Touchdowns being called in their favor when they weren't touchdowns, what should have been touchdowns for opponents being called no touchdown. Fumbles/called down, complete/incomplete passes all this stuff either way in their favor.

Alabama is a very corrupt political climate, good ol boy network. They will lie cheat and steal their way to the top. Have always illegally paid players, fixed grades, you name they've done it. Up to and not limited to death. All they have is Alabama football (and little brother Auburn). No professional sports, no other revenue generator in the state. They cheat like hell. Always have, always will. They make up the rules as they go. Much of the NCAA rule book was written because of the stunts Bryant would pull. They bend or break rules in their favor and feel they are entitled to do this, but everyone else has to play by the rules. Hell the best coach ever (Saban), best cheater ever, quit because he doesn't like the new rules. He didn't simply retire. He has been pubically very vocal and against the new college landscape. Why? It makes it harder for them to cheat and consolidate talent to them. More teams are better and on a better playing field level now, so this is why it appears they are getting more help from the officials..... because now they need more help.

The conference, for whatever reason, has and will continue to protect and promote them at all costs.

Some still do, but historically I've been called a conspiracy theorist about this particular stuff. Well at least it's out in the open more than ever for all to see. This doesn't just happen by accident.

You going to have the SEC offices in Virginia? Ohio? Indiana?...

That makes no sense.
I agree they need to be moved, but it needs to be a major city in a state with a non-traditional powerhouse or still within the footprint of the SEC.

The Big 10 uses Indianapolis and thats where their title game is held...so maybe Atlanta?
But thats close to Athens.

Totally unbiased place and kind of still close to SEC land would be Charlotte?

The idea of Auburn being a target of SEC officiating is hilarious. Yes, they've been victimized a couple of times this year. But prior to the last few weeks, Auburn spent years as the beneficiary of some insane calls. The last time an SEC crew got suspended it was Jason Autrey for throwing a game in Auburn's favor.

It could easily be that UT and Auburn both have longstanding rivalries with Bama, UGA, and UF. I'm thinking it is more favoritism toward those programs than "hate" toward Auburn and UT.

Late in Ali's boxing career some came right out and said that "the champ gets the even rounds". Bama appeared to get most/all of the "close" calls. Holding is a "close" call on virtually every play. To me, it isn't realistic to think that Bama protected their QB that well against one of the nation's best pass rushes without holding. Bama was lower half of the SEC protecting the QB then suddenly become great?

There don't appear to be any standards for PI. So that one is always subject to the subconscious bias of the official looking at the play.

I'm glad it's becoming more mainstream to question officiating, especially nowadays when sports gambling is widespread and legal. It always seems that calls come in or get missed at points in games where the spread could change. Also, a Bama graduate is the head official for a lot of our SEC games and we always seem to get the hose when he is on camera and turns on the mic

The TD/fumble call was a Birmingham review that upheld the call on the field. I don’t think that call is what this is about. I also understand that UGA submitted several plays for review by the league office, though I haven’t seen confirmation of that.

I’m assuming any discipline is about competence instead of bias.

I think it needs to be said that Tennessee sports are not important or good enough to be victim of some massive conspiracy. You think the refs screw us because you don’t think Tennessee can do any wrong, and you notice every slight against Tennessee. If you ask Kentucky fans, they will tell you that part of the reason they think they have no chance Saturday is “the refs are gonna side with Tennessee, like they always have for decades.” Vanderbilt fans are gonna say “the only thing that gives me pause about beating Tennessee this year is that home cookin in Neyland.” Georgia fans complained that we got away with holding all day against them this year.

Now under Heupel, since he has always been horrific at having a disciplined football team back to UCF days, maybe the nation’s worst, he never gets the benefit of the doubt. And neither do his teams. They will be looking for us to commit penalties, because we always do.

Not just that, they’ve been on the lucky side of crazy plays more than any team I’ve ever seen.
