Thank You Coach Vitello

Yea let's just run off the best AD in the country. Brilliant.
Danny has done a great job here. Tony was given a once in life time opportunity to manage a big league team. Both are great at what they do. No need in bashing either one of them. Be happy for both guys . Think about how much fun it will be watching Gilbert and Tony reunited.

He directly responded to me, but you know what you’re right, this just really sucks
Sending all my love to you over the Ether, my brother. We're all hurting. We all err. The great thing to remind ourselves is we are here to err. It's what forces growth.

Show me someone who has never failed and I will show you someone who has never tried.

Gilbert can teach Tony how to avoid the piles of bum crap on the sidewalks lol

Sad day. We know what it looks like now, what having a successful baseball program looks like and I hope we never forget it. We are now the most attractive baseball job in the college ranks, maybe pro ball too.

I wish Coach Vitello all the best! I have no allegiance to any MLB team, why not the Giants…meh we’ll see…Thanks Coach Vitello, come back and see us sometime. GBO!!!

Good luck to Tony in the future.
I'm a fan. Now if he comes back to the SEC somewhere down the road he'll be enemy #1 😉

I mostly agree - first game back in Knoxville you give him the complementary recognition for his accomplishments here, but after that 60 seconds he is to be mocked, booed, jeered and considered an enemy

This right here. He recruits players who dream of playing Major League Baseball and helps them achieve that goal. Why isn't he also allowed to dream about coaching it and follow those dreams? He's earned this opportunity, it wasn't given to him.

Thank you Coach Vitello!

Agreed. TV wasn't drafted out of college. He has never had the MLB experience, as he went straight from college player to college coach. Every player who plays a sport dreams of playing at the highest level of that sport, and I suspect that TV is no different. He didn't get his chance to play in the bigs, but he was offered a chance to manage in the bigs and he took it. None of us should blame him. And as much as I would like to blame something or someone, I believe he was treated well at TN, and legitimately was torn on whether he should take the job or stay. I really doubt that it was about Danny White not throwing enough money at him. The fans, the Administration - including Danny White - wanted him to stay. If he wanted to stay he would still be here. He had it made here. He wanted to go, and as a fan I want to believe it was because of the new challenge - not because he saw a dead end of sorts. As a college coach, he is free to manage his player personnel and I hope he gets that in San Francisco. I personally think that assuming he can get some advice on navigating the pro lifestyle that he will be very successful.

As bad as it hurts, we've got to remember that Tennessee is bigger than any player or coach. We will go on. Charles DeGaulle once commented that the graveyards are full of irreplaceable men.

Gilbert could easily be traded before they get to see the same field. That is just one difference with which he will need to learn to deal.

That is beisbol. He’ll understand… and hopefully revel in it. Altuve loves to have road stadiums chanting his name, how much he sucks, and how big of a cheater he is.

Giants now have Drew Gilbert, Blade Tidwell, Gavin Kilen, and Tony Vitello. All 4 are intense super competitors. I see a theme here with what Buster Posey is looking for….

Dang, I gave up MLB years ago. If wasn’t for the late games, I might become a Giants fan…

PS. Forgot about Maui Ahuna but don’t think he fits the profile…

I thank Coach for the run and the joy that winning brought, but more importantly I thank him for the relationships/friendships I’ve formed with the season ticket holders around me & VN’ers I’ve met through selling tickets, for the memories I’ve made with my son and the love he has for baseball thanks to CTV’s teams. If the BaseVols were playing, he was there!

I’ll be a Giants fan until Tennessee finally gets an MLB team, whenever that is.
