If you are questioning DW in anyway then GTFO! He’s the best AD in college and it’s not close. TV wanted a shot at the pros and good for him. I hate we lost him but it’s business at the end of the day! You can think what you want but UT cannot match a major league salary for a manager!

No he didn’t. TV wanted the SF job, so it doesn’t matter what DW did, he wasn’t going to change his mind! Why the hell do people think when a great coach leaves for a better job from UT, that’s a bad thing? It’s a massive compliment but some are too selfish and ignorant to understand!

You have no idea what you are talking about on this matter. DW lost a lot of support today, you will see. I've heard hundreds of fans today calling DW out on the Tony V situation.

The problem was that DW didn't try to keep him. Those are facts, I've heard this from reliable sources. You worship DW all you want, a lot of us know the truth

This fanbase is full of cryass children who need someone to blame because they’re not emotionally mature enough to cope with disappointment in an adult manner.

Vitello left for A MAJOR LEAGUE JOB. He got an opportunity no college coach in history has gotten. He didn’t leave for another school. And he was still very torn.

It’s not that complicated.

And it’s not complicated to understand both things can be true. DW and Tony didn’t get along and he felt lied to (flirted with TAMU back to back seasons). This has gone back awhile now.

That made it easier on him to accept the Giants job that is attractive on its own merit.

I saw a Tweet that said it was the most Tennessee thing ever for the first coach to jump directly from college to MLB be our coach.

Good grief - the guy was here 8 seasons and won everything there was to win. It wasn't like he had 1 or 2 awesome seasons, but fell short of a championship, then bounced.

You don’t know any of that. You allow yourself to believe these rumors because it gives you someone to project your frustration towards.

DW made him the 2nd highest paid coach in college baseball, ahead of others who have won multiple championships. TV didn’t go to aTm because DW did what it took to keep him. He is building a stadium based on what TV wanted.

It sucks that TV left. But it isn’t DW’s fault. No AD would have kept him from taking an MLB job.

I still don’t know where this narrative about DW only talking to CTV once in the past 5 days is coming from. DW said in his press conference Tony had been communicating with him fairly regularly about this situation over the past two weeks. I seriously doubt those were one-way conversations.

Lot of ignorance in this thread.

Ads don’t directly talk to coaches all the time during contract talks. That is on the agent. Coaches get everything through the agents, who are in back rooms doing the real talking. Head coaches just get the final offer to choose from. Tony was also meeting with top level stakeholders in the donor pool (Manning).

Also, Tony was the second highest paid coach and got a 105 million dollar stadium renovation from Danny.

Don’t even get started on the silly Rev Share argument. LSU, the top program in the country, currently values baseball the same as women’s gymnastics.
