Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Let's go over the evidence that says otherwise.

1. Chris Lowe, hardly a media hack looking for clicks reported today on a Nashville radio station that Tony and DW hadn't spoken in months and he assigned an associate AD to negotiate with TV not even meeting with him personally.

2. Chris Burk and Kendal Rogers, again hardly people looking for clicks, discussed on their show that TV didn't leave to satisfy some desire to coach in the MLB. Both agreed that there is more to this.

3. TV almost took the A&M job last year.

4. When revenue sharing was announced, they took money away from baseball to give to women's basketball.

5. He went for basically less money when considering cost of living and taxes.

6. He abandoned the #1 recruiting class all for that.

Now you can chose to believe that this was all a big nothing burger and unicorn poop and rainbows but I can't make that leap.
lol ok

If you prefer to treat rumors as more valid than the few objectively factual things we know, go ahead.

1. This is not nearly as weird as you think. In large, multi layered organizations having limited face time with your boss - a top executive - is normal. Particularly if the boss believes you to be competent and not needing excess supervision.

2. While not leaches, they spoke in vagaries and do not have near the access you think they do. They are also absolutely trying to drive clicks.

3. Yeah, and? He didn’t leave then. It could speak just as much to him not really being a VFL as it could to any personnel issues.

4. This is 100% an unfounded rumor. That many of you treat this as a fact to work backwards from for supporting your arguments is silly.

5. Yes, and? He moved up to the MLB. If that was his goal - which we have just as much information to support that as the rumors - taking a pay cut might be something he had to do.

6. See above response.

So he had it pretty good here then?
Certainly doesn’t mean he “didn’t entertain” it.

Better here than what A&M was offering? Yes, obviously.
Better here than what SF was offering? No, obviously.

I realize you choose to remain positive, and rarely ever criticize, which is fine - but some things are pretty clear at this point.

SIAP amongst all this baseball empire crumbling talk:

After thinking about this for a little while, I've got a couple of questions.....

Why is the alabama based 'Yellow Hammer News' breaking this story instead of the SEC putting out a statement?

Why'd it take 11 complaints against Ken Williamson and crew, to do anything about it? (According to AI, all 11 complaints were just from the Auburn/Georgia game.)

I'm sure other coaches/ schools have filed complaints in the past against SEC referees, why did we hear about it this time?

* Is the SEC just giving the fans a little "red meat" because the media has been more vocal about it? Or, was Ken on his way out anyways..... possibly retiring. 🤔

**Since Williamson got suspended for his actions in the AU/GA game, shouldn't Georgia forfit the game?

At the least, Kirby Smart should get suspended or fined for his actions. He caused the time out/clapping controversy. If the SEC is going to fine Texas AM $50k for faking an injury, Kirby should be fined $50k for faking a timeout.

And finally..... CAN WE GET THE FLIPPING LEAGUE OFFICE OUT OF BIRMINGHAM?

GO VOLS

Would love for him to turn states evidence and destroy Birmingham.

"Permanently Suspended". . . are they too good to say "Fired"?

Again, if you think a national championship winning coach shouldn't get face time when he's contemplating leaving then you are really living in a fantasy land.

If you believe that Chris Burke, VFL is spreading rumors, along with KR, one of those most respected media members in College Baseball, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

You are certainly welcome to those opinions. 😅

Don’t you have to prepare for a Tim Banks flailing ??

Personally I think both parties share equal blame. Maybe DW grew tired of TV asks after he made him the highest paid coach and committed to a new stadium. My experience as a leader is once you met one employee ask, more come as they push the envelope.

TV let Sexton float his name for several jobs (1 right after the NC) then made the “you are either a vol or you are not” at the celebration. Seems questionable to me given what we know now.

Everyone is making a big deal about their lack of communication, wonder how much interaction DW has with other HC. Haven’t seen it mentioned one way or another.
I stated earlier that both parties shared the blame for it getting to where it led.

Stoerner Fumbles also lent credence to this notion. Chastised the AD’s arrogance in this situation.

Brent Hubbs had a line today talking about how this ordeal showed that the administration has to be more hands on in dealing with revenue shares with its coaches in the new environment. Read into that what you will.

Danny himself said he’s talked to Tony once since Saturday. Not how I would handle being on the brink of losing my generational head baseball coach, but maybe that’s standard procedure for this sort of thing? Not sure. Seems odd to me.

I didn't realize they were this bad
I saw Peay manhandle them…..should have seen it coming. Just didn’t think it was going to be this bad.

Shows what happens when a loyal coach like Rick Stockstill gets fired because the university sees themselves as bigger than they really are. Stock recruited middle Tennessee well and was regularly winning 6 games…..never put this crap on the field.
