Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Even if there was a rift- which I believe is being greatly over emphasized by borderline media leaches to drive clicks - it would not be a situation where TV was scrambling to get out right now. The entire premise is silly.
Chris Burke: well-known borderline media leech. Total click-bait guy.

That honestly makes me think there were serious issues between TV and DW.

I would bet more comes out 6 to 12 months down the road.
OR, and just a thought, he couldn’t turn down the offer of being the first college coach to go pro like this. We all have a dream job that, if offered tomorrow, it’d be hard to say no to.

Lol, I'm not wound up at all. You are welcome to believe that it was all hunky dory and Tony couldn't pass up the opportunity of his childhood dreams but the evidence says otherwise.
No idea if they liked each other or not but the facts are DW made Tony the highest paid coach in college baseball and led the charge to build a new park for Tony. He also left him alone to do his job which is all you can ask of your boss. We also have the number one class coming in so the narrative that the AD didn't support Tony seems like some serious horse$h!t. I'll just go with hunky dory and not make up a bunch of nonsense about why the coach at Tennessee left to be the manager at the San Francisco Giants.

Best evidence of TV’s success is us talking baseball while our AP #17 Vols are in the hunt for a playoff spot and about to face hated rival Kentucky
Speaking personally, even though football success is what drives the ship, I feel like Tony was kind of the spiritual leader of this post-covid sports renaissance we’ve been enjoying the last few years.

We lost more than a baseball coach today. And I get the feeling that a lot of people agree with me.

One of the most charismatic coaches of all time period.

Let's go over the evidence that says otherwise.

1. Chris Lowe, hardly a media hack looking for clicks reported today on a Nashville radio station that Tony and DW hadn't spoken in months and he assigned an associate AD to negotiate with TV not even meeting with him personally.

2. Chris Burk and Kendal Rogers, again hardly people looking for clicks, discussed on their show that TV didn't leave to satisfy some desire to coach in the MLB. Both agreed that there is more to this.

3. TV almost took the A&M job last year.

4. When revenue sharing was announced, they took money away from baseball to give to women's basketball.

5. He went for basically less money when considering cost of living and taxes.

6. He abandoned the #1 recruiting class all for that.

Now you can chose to believe that this was all a big nothing burger and unicorn poop and rainbows but I can't make that leap.

You are certainly welcome to believe that.
