Hello Vols. It's been an entertaining season -- I'm looking forward to watching this SEC season the rest of the way.

I think we'll take down Ole Miss this weekend. They're obviously a tough team, but I think Vegas has it right.

Looking forward to playing the Vols in after Ole Miss. That should be a good game. I'm guessing it will get the evening time slot.
Well, well, look who's back. Hey man, we missed seeing you here after last year's game. If you can't stomach your crow, you ought not talk any crap.

I will expect you to disappear after this year's game no matter the outcome. If you come over to gloat, folks around here will begin to hate the land thieves. Don't be that guy.

It's going to be a good game. My greatest hope is clean play and no injuries.

Well, speaking for myself -- I think it's best to not act in an arrogant way. But if you're asking if I reshaped my opinion of our football team in year 2 of being in the SEC, I'd say this: an honest assessment of our program would conclude that OU is historically a blue blood, and a very strong team in 2025.

Yes, we've had some key holes after 29 players transferred away from OU after Lincoln Riley left in late 2021. In 2022, we just didn't have the personnel to have a good defense and ended with a 6-7 record. In 2023, Venables (a defensive minded coach) improved our defense from one of the worst in FBS to mid-tier and we went 10-3. Last year in 2024, our defense improved again (19 in total defense) but we had a disastrous year offensively for several reasons and finished back down at 6-7. This year, our offense is performing much better and our defense is elite.
In all fairness, you don't know what personnel you need to compete week in and week out on an SEC schedule, but it for sure better be a deep roster. Warm bodies are an asset. The brutality of it is real. Last year for OK was a freebie. There are no true weak games or opponents. By seasons end, what ends up as the bottom dwellers were tough games. Someone just has to lose. All the other conferences can say what they want, but after top 3-5 in the other P4's it's G5/FCS level competition. Yes. OU is blue blood, but now you have to earn SEC Blueblood stamp of approval. You came to the right place to see if Barry Switzer was indeed real.

I beleive this is the second round of home and home's for UT/OU in recent years. Great games.

Welcome to the forum sooner fan! I like the state of Oklahoma since it’s the home of the western band of the Cherokee Nation . I am a member of the eastern band headquarters located in Cherokee NC . Now as for football yes all fan bases have their fanatics who sometimes act like an ass! I’m old enough to realize that it’s just a game played by young men that make many mistakes like we all did! I personally think these kids that play collegiate sports today are very fortunate because when I was their age I was serving in uniform and fighting wars making Pennie’s on the dollar compared to what they make to play a game but hey to each his own! Im a vol fan just the same mainly because I grew up in East Tennessee where there were two sports Tennessee football and nascar! As for the upcoming Tennessee vs Oklahoma game I’m not very confident that it will be an easy Tennessee victory! We are at home but they were at home against Georgia and we all know how that turned out! So again welcome and enjoy the ride the SEC is crazy this year!!

You guys were fantastic when I came to OU last year. Genuinely nice. Same when I went a decade ago. Stay class, fam!

Pretty sure I came back after the game to congratulate the Vols on their victory last year.

In any event, here's a hearty congratulations if you missed it.

I'd say the addition of UT and OU and the subsequent changes in SEC scheduling have made it a new game for everyone including the long-time SEC teams.

But you're right -- longer seasons with more top25 matchups make roster management a challenge!

Kiffin thinks they are stealing signs. It will be interesting to see how he deals with that. I have little faith in Heupel's ability to do anything about it.

I took Kiffin's comments as bait to get OU coaches and players distracted. From all accounts I'm hearing, OU is very focused.

Lots of folks born in Oklahoma (including me) can trace their roots back to include some Native American heritage from the family tree. Osiyo!

This fella was one of the (mostly) well-spoken, NTx. Unlike several of his peers. And he did come back after the game. Here's what he said the day after the 2024 win:

Congrats on a nice win Vols. You were as advertised and have a fine team. I think you have an excellent shot at making the playoffs this year.

But...

I'd say the addition of UT and OU and the subsequent changes in SEC scheduling have made it a new game for everyone ....

There's only one UT, TRJ, and its history dates back to the late 1700s, about a century before the University of Texas was a gleam in anyone's eye. You can call your old buddies Texas or UTex or UTjr or whatever else you wish, but please refrain from mis-using UT to refer to them while here with us.

Go Vols!

Ahhhh... good catch. Tennessee should be UT -- especially around these parts...

I'll try to refer to our rival down south as longhorns, or arrogant cow worshippers, or something more derogatory.

Do you really think Ole Miss will have a 20+ MOV over OU this weekend?

I didn't watch the RRSO but, my honest opinion, OU didn't look that impressive. I like OU fans and you and have nothing against OU but I am not sure I like OU's chances against Ole Miss. Ole Miss is very beatable though and it being in Norman may give you guys a huge advantage. Mateer needs to play well and OU needs to find a run game. For Tennessee, it would be great if you guys beat Ole Miss.

IMO, the UT/OU games will shape up to be epic matchups and very looked forward to games over the years. Could become an actual rivalry game in the new SEC. 50/50 type rivalry.

Oklahoma will score on ole miss. Ole Miss has looked real goid at times, but look close at their schedule and they have struggled in some games against several folks. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Oklahoma won. I feel like they will at home.
